I wonder how many of the officers on parade would survive the purges in the next decade

1:43 Those tanks are British Mark Vs that were supplied to the White Russians during the Russian Civil War and captured by the Red Army.

The trucks used wer Fiat AMO F15s, a soviet copy of the italian truck.
About 3000 were made before switching to GaZ AA.

What's with the Scottish/Irish type military marching music?

It seems like they went out of their way to film foreigners.

Could anyone tell me the music used in this video ? Great footage! Thanks again Ushanka !

Had to add to the comments about the choice of music. Apparently Soviet music of the period was both cosmopolitan and futuristic. 😏

interesting bit of film. i have seen these early films slowed down to 16 frames per second (is this right?) and the people shown take on a whole new character: they're us. the same body movements, slow smiles, walking leisurely - they seem "closer" to us than the funny "Chaplin"-style quick movements.

I like the French Adrian helmets the soldiers are wearing. I believe they were eventually replaced by German Stahlhelm helmet in the late 1920s or 1930s as Germans and Soviets drew closer, so Germany work on its rearmament in violation of Versalle treaty.

The mustache on the right is if I'm not wrong is Genrikh Yagoda, leader of the NKVD.

I'm kinda surprised to see 2 Polish officers present at the ceremony, I thought there would be still some animosity after Poland defeated the Soviet army in 1920.

Props to the soldier with the toothbrush mustache, it was a thing before Hitler and should be after without implied association to the angry mustached man.

I'm sure most if not all of these soldiers died during WW2.

Happy May Day Comrades! "Workers of the world, unite. You have nothing to lose, you have the whole world to win." -Karl Marx. "The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency." Lenin.
