Transient orca punts a seal 80 feet into the air near Victoria, BC!

This group of whales is known as the T69s, with the lone male in the group making the spectacular kill on the harbour seal. His name is T69C, and he was born in 1995.

Using physics, we can calculate how high the seal actually went. If the seal spent 4.30 seconds in flight (the average following 6 experimental timings), then it suggests that it took 2.15 seconds for it to fall back into the water. Assuming that air resistance is not a factor,

It’s amazing to see the lengths of survival instincts… that seal flew up that high in the air to escape that killer whale. Amazing!!!
