Hi Sir, I just wanted to tell you that I can't thank you enough for taking the time and hard work to put this on line. Not all of us are able to afford Bible college but have an insatiable desire to understand the word of God more, and to be able to do so through all the proper avenues possible!
I pray that you will be blessed.
Thank you, Tom...PHI-3:10

Exegesis would be the actual work of understanding what the text actually means while hermeneutics would be the method you use to do that. There are many ways to cook and eat a steak- oven, bbq, skillet, etc. Cooking is akin to exegesis, and how you cook it is akin to hermeneutics. All too often in bible studies the question is asked, "what does it mean to you?" however the real question should be what is the author's intent and what did it mean to his audience. I Hope that helps.

I grew up in Coram back in the 60's-70's and still have family in the area. I left LI when i was in my mid-thirties because there just didn't seem to be a church that had a good balance of rightly understanding scripture and a healthy church life. I now live in NE Tennessee where I help others learn to read their Bibles well via hermeneutics. I'm so glad to see that there's someone in my old hometown that's teaching others the same. Kudos to Rich and the leadership there. We need those that can help us rightly divide the word of truth.

I totally agree with the language gap, and as my teacher said; Koine Greek was the most expressive language ever created, and God planed all 3 mostly used languages and times to bring forth Jesus. But, also the things of the times, the thoughts of the times, the perception and who they were trying to reach, and why the language had to be of perfect/Divine calling to cover thousands of years and still be so true.. love your presentation; sorry I am so opinionated!!

Hello Pastor. I've been studying the Bible for many years now. I've used many tools during my studies. I'm now interested in learning more about Hermeneutics. Listening to part 1 I noticed that you said that us Christians are still under God's Law. Well within my studies it's to my understanding that God's Law could mean several different things. God's Moral/Everlasting Law, Ten Commandments, Law of Moses, with its Ceremonial Laws. It's also to my understanding that Jesus actually fulfilled the requirements of the Law of Moses, and therefore these are the Laws we are not under. The intended purpose of these Laws were to make Israel right with God until Jesus came. Now that faith is here, the Law of Moses is no longer necessary. It is now obsolete. We are made right with God by our faith in Christ Jesus. Actually our Unconditional Love fulfills all of God's Commandments. Law has no bearing on those who totally loves God and loves each other as Jesus has loved us. Please help me to understand your position on this matter. I would like to share your lessons with my wife. I write this comment with all due respect. Be blessed.

Hey great video love learning about this stuff. Was just wondering about one thing though. When you were talking about how the geographical gap. I looked up there was no enemy left from dan to bear-sheba and couldn't find it anywhere. I just wanted confirmation on this and wondering what verse you are referring to. Thanks for clarification love the videos though keep it up.❤

spot on. good example is John Calvin. His Institutes was written 3 yrs after he was converted from Catholicism. How could we trust biblical doctrine to a 3yr old believer?

You did a wonderful job! But, as I coldly posted below (sorry); another example as you offered so many good ones... is: verse out of context as you say, and yet these people say it is hermeneutics and we have 3 major eschatological groups and dozens of sub-groups and they are All, riddled with problems and errors, and why?? Because many have a preconceived ideas and then seek to reverse engineer the scriptures to meet their theory of what it says and all under the guise of using a big word for interpretation...

The Sad part is I have heard men spout they use hermeneutics, and then interpret scriptures wrong. Sad but true. If hermeneutics is an exact science, then all would interpret the same, and there would not be hundreds of denominations and most of them in error just as scripture, and Paul says

Just wanted to say, as far as Proverbs 2:3-5, the author is referring to wisdom, discernment and understanding. He is not referring to the Word of God

The Holy Spirit guides us to proper hermeneutics, He is God and able to open our hearts to revelation of His Word

Appreciate this video! What's the difference between hermeneutics and exegesis?

Anybody heard Of Bill Donahue, his interpretation reflects that the Bible is all about the mind, ..would luv to hear somebody's opinion on such? Some of what he says is in correlation wit science or science based, so to speak!
