TouchWiz was a user interface developed by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd with partners, featuring a full touch user interface. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as an operating system. TouchWiz is used internally by Samsung for smartphones, feature phones and tablet computers, and is not available for licensing by external parties. The Android version of TouchWiz also comes with the Samsung-made app store Galaxy Apps (Galaxy Store). It was replaced by Samsung Experience in 2017 with the release of Android 7.1.1 “Nougat”.
Samsung Experience was a software overlay for the Android "launcher" by Samsung for its Galaxy devices running Android 7.x “Nougat” and Android 8.x “Oreo”. It was introduced in late 2016 on a beta build based on Android 7.0 “Nougat” for the Galaxy S7, succeeding TouchWiz. It has been succeeded by One UI based on Android 9 “Pie” and later versions.
One UI was designed as part of a goal to make Samsung's hardware and software "work together in perfect harmony" and provide a more "natural" experience on large-screen smartphones. One UI displays most of the features that were in the Samsung Experience UX. A prominent design pattern in many of Samsung's system applications is to intentionally place common features and user interface elements along the middle of the screen rather than near the top. This makes them easier to reach with a user's thumb when using the device one-handed. For similar reasons, apps utilise large headers to push their main content towards the vertical centre of the screen. The navigation bar supports the use of gestures and the usual 3-button system, while a system-wide "night mode" was also added (which gives UI elements and supported applications a darkened color scheme). As with Android Pie upstream, the Overview screen of recent apps uses a horizontal layout, as opposed to the vertical layout of previous versions.

I think Samsung should bring S Beam, Driving mode, Smart Stay, Smart Scroll and Air Gesture back. Really they were nice.

Doubtlessly, I'd rather touchwiz name than One UI, it has more history and is more particular and unique. The other one sounds more generic.

TouchWize has that original look to it. The pinnacle when smart phones were becoming intelligent phones 😂😂😂

TouchWiz 1.0 and 2.0 is not based on Android. But since TouchWiz 3.0 is using Android until current OneUI. Since OneUI, it looks more refreshed.

Man I remember the days of "TouchWiz" on the first generation Galaxy S (sold under a few dif names here in the US with minor differences depending on carrier, I had AT&T so it was the "Samsung Captivate"). I quickly fell in love with the openness of Android compared to the iPhone I had switched from (last iPhone I had, was a 4S). But good lord did the early Android phones have performance issues. I remember their being some jailbreaking thing I did, and their were all these different ROM's you could pick from that all claimed to improve performance in different ways. By performance I mainly mean the horrible, awful, stuttering. For the first several generations of Galaxy phones (had each one) the random lag and just complete lack of responsiveness out of nowhere was crazy. We're talking 3+ seconds of the phone just not reacting to anything you do. I remember it noticeably improving around the S6 generation. I'd say ever since around the time when Samsung started switching away from "TouchWiz" to the "Samsung Experience" skin introduced with Android 7, it started improving massively. And I'd say since "OneUI" has been gone completely and Samsung's UX and many of their features (like secure folder, smart switch backup, the theme engine, creating your own themes with "theme park" app etc) are why I love Samsungs phones. I don't care that I get the latest version of Android a bit later than the Pixel line because 9 times out of 10 the list of features new to base Android have been part of OneUI for quite a while. I've never experienced it on my Note 20 Ultra 5G, or my S10+ before it. Same time when Samsung also upgraded the "fit and finish" or feel of their phones from mostly plastic to metal and glass. Yes we lost the removeable batteries. Though what annoys me far more than that or even the headphone jack going aways is Samsung removing the MicroSD card now. A surprising number of apps will take advantage of a MicroSD card if you have one. YouTube Premium for example and it's download feature, will let you set it to save videos to the SDcard, same with Netflix, HBO Max and other streaming services. Same with the podcast app I use (tell it to auto download episodes to the SD card). Samsung's "Smart Switch" backup and transfer app will let you create a full system backup, including app data to the SD card. So you can fully restore your phone to exactly how you like using the backup, all without ever hooking the phone up to a PC (otherwise you'll need to use the Windows app to create and restore from backups).

I don't know why, i actually prefer the look of the Samsung Experience compared to OneUI. It looks pretty and has character. Reminds me when i first got a Note 8 back when it was new. OneUI to me, looks pretty generic.
