I had an ‘84 low rider with drag pipes, used to stay overnight at my GF’s house and had to leave early mornings. I was probably the neighborhood alarm clock as I rolled out to a chorus of curses. Loved that bike.

Shovel 1340 will always be my favourite Harley engine, with or without electric start, no electric start just gives you plenty of incentive to keep it tuned nicely so that it always starts on a couple of kicks! 😂

In ‘70, I bought a ‘51 panhead with the money I saved in Nam. Seeing this guy kick start it, totally from the right side, was something I never did. I ALWAYS straddle my bike, just in case the kickstand folded up.

Use to put 50% turbo blue racing fuel 50% regular, in my 81 superglide, you talk about the straight pipe sound, she loved it.

My first Harley was a Shovel...and my second...and fourth...fifth...and seventh...the other 5 were Evo's and Twin Cams. But the first one...hardtail and kickstarter. Great times!
