Was Yajirobe Helpful In Dragon Ball Z?

Welcome to "Were They Helpful?" a series in which we discuss whether characters in Dragon Ball Z were helpful. In this episode Mike is joined by Big D from Geekdom101 as they discuss whether or not they think Yajirobe, the roommate of Korin, and member of the Z Fighters was helpful in Dragon Ball, Dragonball Z, and DB Super as well as his impact throughout the series, such as his training with Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, and Chiaotzu, and bringing characters like Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan the Senzu Beans. Yeah, he was definitely more helpful than chiaozu.

The fact that daffy is a male makes it even worse

hes the sleeper character. his purpose is to completely flip the situation on the villans head with the element of surprise. hes also there for comic relief. but his main purpose is to help the z fighters when literally all hope is lost. his value is specifically in how suprising it is cuz hes also a coward. the last thing you expect is a save from yajirobe, even if hes at the battle. other then that he just does your basic yamcha tasks.

Don't forget that in Dragon Ball Yajirobe caught Goku after Goku killed Piccolo Daimo.

Man it’s classics like this that makes me miss you even more (and you’ve only been retired for a day lol) but to think we’ll never get an official LSM Wasted Potential video again and there were soooo many in Super. Maybe you can pass the torch on these to Geekdom since he was on just about everyone of them with you, plus he did say in this video “I will finish what you started” lol. Yajirobe was, is, and always will be… a FOOKIN LEGEND!

Yajrobe was just as helpful as Tien. He held off Vegeta successfully even though Vegeta was a God compared to him.

As a additional note to the things Yajirobe did combat wise later on. You kinda have to give him some extra credit for the mere fact that he knows damn well how outclassed he is (or he should anyway if he isn't oblivious) but he still stuck around for the fight with Vegeta, and while he hid most of the time, he did come out twice to attack Vegeta despite being hopelessly outmatched. Gotta give points for bravery there.

Good points, and I think he was helpful but in an not as obvious way as people would think but more in the back and indirectly most of the time.

The battle against Vegeta is actually my personal favorite in the series, because it wasn't Goku who defeated him like almost every other time, but it was a group effort. Goku didn't even give the finishing blow.
Meanwhile, while a group of characters fought against Freeza, their efforts were basically just filler until Goku got there. All that powering up Krillin, Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo recieved meant nothing.

It's funny but if you solely look at side characters (excluding Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks and Piccolo) he was probebly next to Bulma the most useful, although he hasn't had a lot of screen time.
