Ryno Pieterse Dangerous Tackle vs Bordeaux Bègles| Red Card Incident

This was one of the low points of the weekend. We can't have these types of tackles in rugby. It was late, dangerous and reckless, Ryno Pieterse could easily have ended the season of the other player.

It's going to be interesting to see how World Rugby handles this, I think they have no choice but to suspend him for a long time.

I'm sure Ryno will learn from this and not do stuff like this in the future. He's still a young player and this was a big mistake by him. Unfortunately this tackle is going to be linked with him for the rest of his career

Those MEDICS were ON it. They were running, bag in hand, before he bounced.

You can tell it’s bad by the immediate reaction of the medics sprinting onto the pitch

Tackler 100% knew the ball was gone, just wanted to hit the kicker late.

"Soccer is a gentleman's game played by hooligans, and rugby is a hooligans' game played by gentlemen" . It is still true, nowadays? Where has the mithological rugby fairness gone? Pieterse did not gave Lucu even a glance while leaving the field.

I don't get how can people say this tackle is alright, just a tad late...he used his shoulder first and it was in the air

I read a report which gave the impression this tackle was worthy of a criminal conviction! The description above is similarly hysterical btw. Thought i'd take a look to see what the fuss was about.

It's really not THAT bad. I mean he's ridiculously late and on that basis alone it merits a red. However, initial contact is below the neck and there's a great wrap. He uses his size to cut the scrum half in two. Big deal. That's part of the game. If he was a second earlier i'd say brilliant tackle.

That was late and to be punished but more legal than 2 of Owen Farrel's tackles which went unpunished.

Clearly uncalled for and unnecessary! I like that he was given a red card! In the USA, an American Football player that launch themselves into an opponent are usually ejected for what is called targeting.

How is this any different from the Jaden Hendrikse late hit that fractured his leg against Argentina, and the Argentinian player received zero punishment

A few years ago the Samoan Chiropractor hit Derick Hougaard exactly the same. No card. A historic tackle. 10 cm lower, one second faster and that tackle would have been legal and probably a turnover.

He wrapped his hands but his shoulders hit the neck of the opponent. Would it have been just a penalty if it weren't late?

Ryno channeling his wrestling namesake. GORE! GORE! GORE!

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?! It was a little late, but tacklers get away with that all the time and often the ref dismisses it saying they were committed to the tackle.

C'est à cause de comportement comme celui-là que des joueurs se retrouvent en fauteuil roulant! Geste stupide !

Look, there are unintentional dangerous incidents and then there is this...

It is a tackle very similar to many tackles made by Courtney Lawes, defentitly late, but apart from that, what else would you expect from a hit between a lock and a scrum half?
