If you don't want to watch the whole of this in depth review, here's the TL;DW - this bag is awesome.

I compare the Lowepro Flipside Trek 350AW and 450AW, and review the 450AW. I have had the bag for over a month and used it every single day for many hours in Vietnam, so I've really given it a good go and here's the in depth review.

Details: Purchased for around £134 from Amazon. Features: enough room to put in a large DSLR with battery grip, plus 2 lenses and accessories. Has a large top compartment for putting other bits in, room for lots including water bottle, food, rain coat, and more. All-weather cover. 10" tablet sleeve. Rear entry. Tripod straps.

Pros: They are many! Rear entry keeps your kit safe. 'Flipside' system is actually really useful if the ground is really muddy/gritty/wet. Quite spacious, holds a lot of kit. Unassuming - looks like a regular bag. Sturdy and rugged. Comfortable for all-day wear. I could go on... watch the video!

Cons: There are very few - the buckles are a bit weird, the shoulder straps could be a little more rugged, and the tripod straps would be awesome if they had little rubberised grippers on for tripods. But other than that I really have no complaints.

Now that it’s a year(ish) later, how’s the 450 holding-up? I’ve completely maxed out my Slingshot 250, and I’m looking to move up to something that will allow me to grow my kit. I’ve been looking at the Flipside Trek 450 and the ProTactic 450 AW II. Thoughts?

This is the best review I've seen about this backpack model so far. You showed exactly what I needed to know about the depth. Thank you so much.

Very good comparison !
I will opt. for the 450 since i need more space and anyway will have no problem with the fitting because of my size !

Great review! I have the 350 and am considering also purchasing the 450 due to an upcoming trip where I'll need more capacity. I think you've sold me on the 450! Thanks.

Another useful thing about the flip is when you live in the desert like I do. If you put your bag on the ground it is going to get covered with thorns

The best comparison between 350 and 450 so far!
Some questions:
- is the backpack water resistent?
- I've read some complaint about the quality of the material: what's your opinion about it?
- after one year and half do you have any pros or cons to add to your review?

Thanks for this review I like how you had both backpacks to review. Would have been great to do a side by side of how much gear you can hold in each bag. I have the 350 and now come to realize I have outgrown this size. Although the 350 is a great day pack it is a bit small for traveling on extended days. It is time for me to upgrade to the 450 and I hope that it can hold my 13" laptop well.

Excellent review. Will the 350 take a Canon 400mm f5.6 prime lens plus a Canon 7Dii?

Nice review Sean of the two bags. Clear, concise and informative; especially the "after the trip" observations. I was looking for something smaller than my full gear camera bag that I could use traveling/site-seeing with non-photographers in Italy. Because I'm now shooting with Fuji XT-3 cameras and lenses that save weight, size and money (compared to my old Nikon setup), I ended up purchasing the 350. It's a nice compromise that allows bring along the essential camera gear and also carry a jacket, snack and such without standing out in the crowd with a big pack. Keep up the videos, you're a natural in front of the camera.
