When I saw the Stones in 81 in NJ, Mick went into the Upper Level of the Arena and walked real fast thru the crowd singing this as people were grabbing him....guided by 2 big security guards.

AWESOME 👍👍👍 Wish the Stone's would play this again live but it looks as they never will with that same setlist for many tours now.

Good lesson. I was just listening to this album yesterday. Just shows how great the Stones are that this is one of their "lesser" albums.
A couple notes for those trying to figure out these kinds of tunes (basic rock stuff):
1. first off, learn 8-10 chuck berry songs. Not all the fills, just the basic structure. Play that Chuck Berry boogie riff till your wrist falls asleep. Trust me, patterns will emerge (see #2).
2. learn the concept of a 1-4-5 (I-IV-V if you're fancy) blues progression. Again, 60% (that's probably low) of popular music since 1955 is some variation of 1-4-5, with another chord or two
3. if you're trying to figure out the key of a guitar song, try E first. If that doesn't seem right, try A. Those are the easiest, and therefore the most common, root chords for guitar players. If it's a piano song, or has horns or something, this trick often doesn't work. If it's a blues song with horns, try B flat.
4. When I'm lost, I just let the song play and slide up and down the little e from open to the 11th fret until I hit something that's in tune with the song. If one note is too high and the next one down is too low, they're not tuned to standard concert pitch- the old "Tune to the bass player" thing we all used to do before tuners were a thing (golden era AC/DC is notorious for this)
5. If that fails, let the song play and try to sing the note that seems like the root/main note of the song. Like, hum/sing it out loud. Sounds dumb, but do it. then pause the song, and do the slide up and down the little e from open to 11th fret. There's only 12 choices.
At first this all seems like greek to you, but then one day, you'll hear a "new" song everyone is freaking out about ("Smells like Teen Spirit" was one for me) and you'll think "Shit that's just Twist and Shout with one chord changed". PS- Twist and Shout is just La Bamba. Everything is stolen from somewhere.

The Eddie Cochran influence is all over this one. "Something Else" and "C'mon on Everybody" and "Nervous Breakdown"

I agree that many fans treat this song as a filler or throwaway but to me it's an absolute gem! The rhythm work is one of the best examples of Keith's behind the beat playing style. I love this song. Hell I'd venture to say Emotional Rescue is a terribly underrated album overall.

James James you are as good as privettricker hahahaha. I am from Argentina the country sotnes of the world. I follow you for many years. I'm a fan of the Stones, I follow them all over the world, I had the pleasure of being with one of them. And thanks to you I started playing again with my fender after years. You do the best covers I've heard and seen, and the tutorials are very good. Please continue to delight us with your music. Sorry por my English isn't good enough.

Thanks JJ, well done. I'm always amazed by Keith and the Stones. While most songwriting teams think progress means attempting further and more complexity, the Stones go back to the basics to come up with great tunes that really swing. 'Let me Go' is a great example; it's your basic I IV V structure but Keith inserts small variations and spins ... and it really swings ....!

I love your talk during the videos. As we watch our late night host broadcast from home durning COVID-19 stay at home, I think, not as good as James James because he chats and plays! Keep playing, and keep chatting it up: first rate entertainment. I love your laugh. We need such light hearted ness during our plague era.
