Webcam Price Gouging?! The affordable ASHU HD 1080p compared to the Logitech C920 Pro!

The COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic has prompted stay-at-home, lockdown, and other social distancing orders that have folks working from home using Zoom and other video conferencing technology. This has triggered a shortage of quality webcams such as the Logitech C920 Pro, and consequently high webcam prices. In this video, I test out an affordable alternative 1080p webcam, the ASHU HD 1080p, and compare it to the popular Logitech C920.

*Everything works **do7.pl/C920** easy to use, quality video with built in sound and many features.I replaced my older HD logitech webcam with this one, because Skype sometimes didn't recognize it. Everything works well and is easy on this cam: don't bother with the software, just plug it in. It has on-board hardware compression, so you can use it on a wide variety of devices. On-board compression removes part of the bottleneck, so you are more likely to get a smooth call. There's a downside to this which is the codec is a bit weak, but that also means you will have a better chance with an iffy internet connection, at the expense of some sharpness. Both audio and video quality are on the high end of add-on cameras, and you get a fairly wide field of view. There's an older, more expensive model that is even wider but this camera has better software controls.Out of the box, the automatic white balance was unable to deal with the window in the room, but unlike some other cameras you can set the white balance easily so you don't look blue or orange. Unless that is your thing, of **course.You** can also set face detection and follow focus, which works pretty well but does zoom in pretty tight. Manual zoom is there as well, so, basically, pretty much everything works as it should. There's no privacy cover included, but you should unplug these things when they are not in use.The mount is flexible, so you can use it as a regular camera on a tripod.The slight weakness of this camera is that the audio is not as clear and natural as on some ofthe other logitech models, but noise cancelling works well, and, on balance, this is one ofthe best choices.*

I just picked up the C930 (wider field of view, 4x digital zoom, more saturation than the C920). Pricy, but it just works out the box... unlike the 4 other cams I picked up from Aliexpress or cheaply in a local shop. If you are serious about those Teams or Zoom meetings when working from home or you like to do youtube videos, go for the C920, C925, C930 or whatever variant fit your needs. Expensive yes, but you easily end up spending the same money on cheap webcams that don't do the job anyway.

Thank you for this video. I purchased the ASHU 1080p webcam to teach my yoga classes on line via zoom. I can't seem to keep myself in full view when going from sitting to standing . I had hoped I could be kept in full view without having to manually move the angle of this webcam. Do you know if the C920 would do this as I am only 5ft away from the monitor. Thanks kindly in advance

Just now got one that was ordered in March prior to this video. There is an unacceptable red tint, probably from night vision auto-adjust. Now trying to resolve the issue without spending more than the $20 I paid for it.

The ashu is 720p. That's why you had to push your laptop back to get the framing right.
