NY START Region 3: How A Stand Alone Clinical Team Enhanced Community Capacity: A Region 3 Success Story

The NY START Region 3 Certified Clinical Team is unique in the NY START Family. With only a Clinical Team in place, we have had to address the call to build capacity of both IDD and MH service providers by maximizing contributions of the Clinical Team. Our poster provides an overview of our Community Education and Training Program, and Collaborations and Linkages with Service Providers. The Region 3 Clinical Team has connected with traditional IDD providers, as well as a variety of provider groups including other state and local government agencies, community health and social services organizations, and NY START programs located in neighboring regions around the state. The START SIRS Database as well as other tracking from the Region 3 Clinical Team was used to demonstrate the scope of our training and community linkages. The Region 3 Leadership Team has moved forward to create strategies that are designed to maximize the strengths and creative abilities of our Clinical Team.
