The Polestar 1 is actually a hybrid we're excited about. From the good people at Volvo this thing has some serious horsepower and amazing styling. A Prius, this is not.

The combined 626 horsepower helps the car sprint to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, which is impressive for a car this heavy, but not world-conquering. That split between the rear motors allows torque vectoring, sending more power to one wheel or the other in the goal of making this big coupe handle like something far smaller. Goal achieved? That you can only tell from the driver's seat.

I just love how Volvo and Polestar went with styling the car really subtly. Understated fast cars are a rarity these days - even fast German sedans which were always renowned for their subtlety look incredibly loud - but this is just so fucking nice.
Give yourself a pat on the back Volvo and Polestar, you earned it.

I got the chance to get up close with one of these and meet the design team at Gothenburg Airport a couple weeks ago. It's even more impressive up close. Don't be fooled by the Volvoesque style features. This is no ordinary car!
