Imagine you're the only civilization in the galaxy and you nuke each other into extinction.

Being called a ‘configuration of atoms’ has caused an existential crisis like no other

The earth is an ark carrying all the known lifeforms in the universe that will eventually spread when technology allows us to do so.

Imagine that all life everywhere in the universe is at roughly the same levels of evolution within their own biomes and that perhaps something occurred on a vast, unimaginable scale that triggered the potential for complex organisms, the components that make them where there before but perhaps a series of massive gravitational tsunamis reorganised/reconfigured the earlier universe into a place that could harbour life and the moment (cosmically) that happened life began to develop, that would mean that most places with complex life would be at an industrialised, if not early space age level

People invented and denied facts to suit their emotional needs since the beginning of man. People believe or deny facts as it suits their needs. I see it all the time.

No way I believe other intelligent beings would be close in another dimension we can’t comprehend who knows 😮

For intelligent species we act dumb af

So one civilization per galaxy (laughable) would equate to two trillion civilizations throughout the universe. The idea that we are alone is based on the ego alone, it makes no sense, its an emotional thought not a logical one.

We are not alone as there are 2 trillion galleries out there

Calling ourselves intelligent at this point in history seems a little far fetched and also a little frustrating.

if we're rare, it is a non-Copernican finding.

It would butress the medieval view of the Earth as the center of the universe, and of humans as having a special role.

That's pretty much the opposite view of science, usually which emphasizes we're not the center of anything.

Big black hole in the centre. We are on the edge of our galaxy. I guess stuff closer to the centre needs more time . Because we are literally going through space time faster ❤

From what ive seen. The term intelligent may not be the right word to describe mankind.

It's all so profound. It's impossible to make sense of it. However, what if it's not profound? What if it is just what it is without any special meaning?

This notion should be taken seriously because it might be true.

People's behavior most of the time is mostly emotions. Emotions rule, not intelligence often.

Why would Brian Cox ever wonder about such a thing?
