sorry to deny you in Vietnam the cudos of claiming this stymlle drip of of truly Vietnamese origin, but it ain't ! Its origin is FRENCH from the mid 19th century from their industrial revolution. Vietnam being a French coloiny until about 1947. The French colonalists inttroduced this drip method which obviously appealed to the locals to. They soon adopted this system whilst the French moved on to other methods.
In France now its quite rare. You often see this system for sale in brocantes in different qualities. Its, of course, quite charming, and personal to use individually, but to get the drip just right can take time. Being a small time collector of drips, stove tops, conas etc I have a few examples here in SW France.
