Honestly i kinda think 103 is canon to one piece, just that his exploits were known probably with different iterations (since it was clear that ryuma is still widely known yet no one knew that ryuma defended wano from threats) so either mix interpretation with wano making him a defender of wano while the rest made ryuma a warrior travelling the world or could be a mix of both, ryuma at youth travelled the world then soon returned to defend his home
