In this video I review the following antenna: Winegard FreeVision FV-30BB Indoor and Outdoor Digital HDTV Antenna (4K Ultra-HD Ready, ATSC 3.0 Ready, High-VHF / UHF) - 30 Mile Range High Performance Digital HD TV Antenna. It runs about $34 on Amazon and claims a 30 mile range. For the low price, how well does it work?

I bought this antenna three years ago(prior to knowing about Antenna Man) and got lucky. I came across it in Home Depot. Now that I know, the antenna is mounted on my chimney. According to rabbit ears I am with in 30 miles LOS. All green and yellow on their page. I get great reception on all networks. Long story short, I still watch and pay attention to what you say. So far so good for being lucky. Thanks for your information.

I have waited for so long to see Winegard come out with a small antenna. Finally they came through. Nice work Taylor

I enjoy your videos and find them very informative and unbiased. I am holding out, however, for the ATSC 6.0 32K Ultra-Super-Max-Def capable antenna that also brews coffee, vacuums the house, and washes the windows. I'm sure one is coming soon... from Ping-Ding no doubt... LOL.

Ha! I’ve picked that antenna up at Home Depot and using it in the Miami metro area (indoors) and I can receive all the major channels plus a ton of ethnic channels (78 in total) just fine!

I have this antenna. It perform as expected. If I would actually bother to rotate it, can get ALL the channel that are available in my area but which are at roughly 90 degree apart. Winegard makes good products.

Thanks for the review of this antenna. I have it in my attic space and it works pretty well. The farthest transmitter is 19 miles from me and it comes in pretty well. I have 2 VHF stations in my area and both have strong signals and they come in just fine. The rest are UHF and they all come in very well. The only times I have reception problems is during heavy rains and thunderstorms. I think the review is accurate, in that it may not do well on fringe VHF, but does OK on UHF. It's good for reception not too far from transmitters, but those farther out will need something bigger. I'm happy with this antenna and and I'm sure others within 30 miles or so of the transmitters will be too.

The lightning wire doesn't decrease the odds of getting struck. It takes the current from the strike away from your expensive TV and takes it to ground.
This antenna would be good as the "other antenna" in some two antenna configurations. If you have some nearby station and others at a long distance, two antennas can be a good answer with the long range one optimized for the distant towers.

Is it me of have Amazon star ratings and/or reviews gotten completely out of control? Almost every product I look at has more than 4 stars. They have to tighten that up. Great video as usual, Tyler! You did a recommendation for me a year or so ago. Thanks again.

As I watched this, I noticed Tyler refer to the reflector wires while he was referring to the VHF element. The triangle loops are the VHF element on this antenna and the x pattern on the front most is the UHF element. The horizontal elements are not connected. I've got one of the older iterations of this antenna mounted on a 25' mast about 20 miles from the nearest uhf broadcast tower. I have stations split about 100° apart and one hvhf station in the opposite direction from the west. I pointed it due north and can pick up all broadcasts north, 5 out of seven from the south and that lone vhf station out west. The farthest tower from me is 23 miles with at least two hills in the way.

Thank you for trying this antenna. One of my favorites, that often gets overlooked. It's directional. Those straight parts in the back are its "reflector" not the VHF element. The spaghetti-looped element (behind the UHF "X" element) is the actual VHF part. Enjoyed your video! Perhaps the 30-mile claim is VHF reception, as you got decent results on UHF

Tyler here is a trouble shooting tip. I get my recording from a converter box in another room. My channel 3 went dark in the family room. Thanks 😊 to your teaching. I rescanned the tv . Videos are coming in great 👍🏻 now. I never thought I could loose channel 3 . THANKS ANTENNA YOUR THE MAN.

Hey Antenna man, It works awesome on ATSC3.0 in my area where ATSC1.0 had poor reception.
Once ATSC 3.0 will take over this kind of smaller but quality antenna maybe perfect up to 50miles away
I have it 36miles away from tower and I'm in a valley with a 110ft hill shading my reception .
If not that I think this antenna can receive ATSC 3.0 from lot further out than AtSC 1.0 did.

I bought a used one from the thrift store, and when I got it home, I had to connect the 300 ohm twin leads to the antenna. It worked very good with my DX-286 receiver, and it works very good for FM, and I know it will work for TV and scanner reception indoors and out. I might just go order another one since these are better than those other antennas I bought in the past, and the good thing about these Winegard antennas is that are passive and don't have frequency range limits. I could use a VHF-UHF low noise preamp with this antenna.

I have this antenna in my attic in the north DFW market within mid/high 30 mi. range. Dedicated RG6 run to one television. Unit works great, even with large red oaks in front yard facing southernly transmitting stations. If I ever upgrade my 1080p set and put it in a bedroom I’ll add a second one of these and mount it to a pole propped up against a cross beam next to this current antenna for a second dedicated run.

I’ve had this antenna for over 2 years and live in New Jersey just over the bridge from a Philly. ALL the local channels come in perfectly. When I do a scan I get over 100 channels. Unfortunately most are religious or infomercials lol. Don’t knock this antenna it does work excellent for the price. Every once I. Awhile I’ll have trouble with channel 69 in Allentown but other than that every channel including the hard to get WPVI channel 6 comes in with no problem what’s so ever.
