OMG, this is blisteringly fast! I have the previous Astra OPC, and the launch on the new one is just insane, this does'nt struggle to get off the line at all, it just puts it down!!

I own this gar since about a month now and it's an absolute dream. The sound, the power the comfort... just fantastic. Opel built a great sports car here. In my personal opinion I think it's the best compact sports car you can get these days.

I did some stop-watch measurements of the tacho speeds on Astra OPC, Megane RS, AUDI RS3(2.5lit-4WD).Results on the same order...
They were VERY interesting.
0-100: 6"/6"/5''
50-120:5''/6''/4''
80-150:5"/8"/6"
100-180:9"/10''/11''
150-220:12"/16"/12''
200-250:15"/35"+/17"
0-200:18"/22'/18''
I did it many times and averaged the results.
The Astra wins the 80-150, 100-180 and 200-250 segments!
The RS3 wins the 0-100 and 50-120 segments.
The MegRS equals Astra on 0-100 and looses everywhere else.

That is because the turbo in the OPC works at a higher pressure than in the 135i. In other words, the 135i is a less turbo-dependant engine to say it somehow, or that it has more margin for performance. If you add a remap and make the turbo on a 135i work at higher pressure, you would get much more power up to a point beyond the limit of the OPC without having to change the turbine for a bigger one. It is obvious that 3 liter engine can make more power than 2 liter given a certain boost presure.

Golf RS is a non final project in vag but astra opc nurburgring 2.4 SIDI Twinturbo 380HP AWD seven speed manual gearbox (7MT) or optional seven speed dual clutch (7DT) by ZF is already in development at opel performance.

C20LET is a very different engine from the modern one. It was a good engine though, and the 20XE version is still used by some teams in top touring cars. Previous gen VXR/OPC engine was good, but the new one does seem better. Hopefully they resolved the flat spots and throttle response in this model (when not using at least 98ron fuel).

Did you EVER drive a DSG? It's ultra fast, the noise while changing gears is awesome, won't mention that you use the car for everyday driving so it's way more comfortable too.

Look at 0:25, the driver doesn't reset the counter in position zero.
the fuel counter of dash's screen must be reset first but we see that the guy reset himself the position counter in default 39.9l/100.I have an astra vxr, when I start, the position of counter by default has 39.9l/100, you must reset that in 0L/100 before and the computer can calculate the real fuel consumption, that's right .My astra VXR 18.8 mpg Maxi=12.5l/100 vxr mode at 165mph/ 265kph

gps system is inaccurate to measure the speed of a car.
This instrument is used to give a geographical location with an accuracy of 10 meters and the satellite signal comes from the area so there is always an imprecise shift.
270km / h posted on a recent digital counter as the new astra opc is 268/269 km/ h real speed.
Porsche and BMW also have digital counters on dashboard very accurate to calculate the real speed

me too own an OPC 240bhp, looks: it is sex on wheels, unbelievable georgeous, spoiler, side skirts and central exhaust. still a head turner 4.5 yrs old, I love opel, ich liebe autos

I had a chance for 10 days test this new OPC....i´m really surprised, for me best complex hot hatch now. But my speedo show 273km/h on digital panel.

GPS give you the exact speed. A speedometer of a car didn't, because it only can take the ABS signal or a speedsensor signal from the gearbox. The varying wheeldiameter and loss of traction causes a big measurement error. Thats why speedrecords only are validated by GPS speedmeasurement. A speedometer of a car usually indicates 10% more than the real speed.
