Man that is looking very nice. I grabbed the AppImage and looked at it along with you Tom, I really like it. Personally I use dark theme on my both my Mint 19.3 and 20. I am on Mint 20 right now and this RC themed right along with my distro. It grabbed all my fonts too. You would never know it's an RC. Thanks for the first look!

As someone who HAS to make pptx files on a weekly basis, I’m happy to see the improved compatibility with MS office. There’s quite a way to go (ie: the desperate need for proper letter borders without wacky workarounds like intersecting shapes with text boxes), but under the hood things have far improved since I first started using LO a few years back.

I won't be in too much of a rush for it if there are no significant changes.
I think I'll wait for it to appear in the standard repos.

LibreOffice apps desperately need smooth scrolling (i.e. per pixel, not per line; + implementation of acceleration and deceleration). When you’re working with long documents or spreadsheets and you actually need to interrelate separate sets of data, different chapters, etc, scrolling up and down is so frustrating.

It’s not major fault, but it can be enough of a deal breaker to get people switching to the various markdown electron writing apps, that AT LEAST feature a semblance of post-2000s smoothness to them

Is is possible to get a mini toolbar in Libreoffice on selection? Like the way it is in M$ Office.

I hope they changed their "policy" for LO to connect somewhere during startup, because if one blocks such connections, LO starts (even when starting it for the >=2 time) painfully slow.
Also I would like to see pictures being pasted into document anchored "AS characters" not "to paragraph" or "to character".

For those of you who use LibreOffice, do you save your files MS Office fomats (DOCx, XLSX, etc) or OpenDocument formats (ODT, ODS, etc)? I tend to save in OpenDocument formats unless I need to send a MS Office file to someone. Otherwise, I use PDF to send documents to people.

Great review of LibreOffice 7! Thanks for posting!

The one feature that MS Office Excel has that prevents me from moving to LibreOffice is Power Query. Some tasks are either not possible, or extremely time consuming without it.

Still no updates on Base. I would switch if Base could compete with MS Access

I wonder if using appimages with same name, would change of settings in one be reflected to the other? Example : If using LibO 7 for opening a file, and then close it, then it would be linked in recent file list. But when opening LibO 6, would the same file be seen there in recent file list ?

6.4 has been solid but I do like the idea of locking toolbars.
A few desktop icon options besides just the drab default would be nice.

Libreoffice 7.0 crashes on Windows 10. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't fix this. Back to Office 2010.

Libre office really really needs a complete UI redesign . It looks ancient and overcomplicated yes someone who is used to it may find it waste of time and resources but for new users are users coming from other office applications it's a necessary change.

And their tab interface is absolutely trash . The default one is even better than that.

Just one suggestion... when using LibreOffice on Linux, I advise against using the Calibri font, because it renders awfully on Linux... Many people open MS Office documents on LibreOffice written with Calibri and they tend to think that it's LibreOffice to blame, but it is a font issue related to how it was packed.

Also, one major change is the switch to Skia to render the UI... it's a lot faster now, mainly on Windows.

Is it possible to add morph transition in libre office?

In case others have issues, here's a comment describing issues I've had with it.
This runs like absolute garbage on my Lenovo 730 2018 laptop.
Is zooming in just stutter city to anyone else?
Some specs & context:
It's win10 (I'll try on PopOs later, I'm sure it'll be fine there lol), no crazy installs outside of steam and 1 simple game. It's basically a fresh install (and yes it's been debloated running on high performance profile.).
