California still has serous issues that need to be addressed: homelessness out of control, fires, South Cal is running out of water, the crime rate is outrageous, small business dealing with mandate closures due to covid variances .. I do not understand how people of that state allow someone to stay in office under these dire realities reflected from the leadership of this governor.

I don;t think this was ever in reach for the GOP. When it was close to 50-50, the only ones really paying attention were those in favor of the recall. It was inevitable that, as the election neared, the numbers would move toward Newsome.
