How does the ethereum news increase centralization? The people who stake are forced to put the extra eth after 32 but below 64 into Lido to get more eth. Sounds like allowing for compounding would decrease centralization because the need for Lido and exchange staking would be much less.

The eth proposal won't reduce decentralization... if there's 1 party already staking that eth then it's fake decentralization anyways. The one person already controls these nodes, so there's no point in obscuring what's really happening and reducing efficiency in the process. This doesn't mean there shouldn't be a limit, but making it this high is fine imo. It might even mean the minimum might be lowered in the future if enough nodes go away, which will in turn increase decentralization. Currently they're more like sock puppet nodes anyways
