Speaking Vibrations – created and performed by Carmelle Cachero, Jo-Anne Bryan, King Kimbit & Jordan Samonas ; Directed by Jacqui du Toit.
An accessible, multidisciplinary performance work featuring ASL song/poetry, spoken word and song, rhythm tap dance and contemporary dance.
Jo-Anne Anita Bryan is an Ottawa-based Artist experiencing life through the intersections of being Black, Deaf, Queer, and Woman. Her artistry includes American Sign Language (ASL) storytelling and performance. Jo-Anne is currently one-quarter of the Speaking Vibrations group, they did their first performance at Uproar Arts Festival in Summer 2019.
Carmelle Cachero has been involved in the performing arts her entire life. Growing up in the world of dance, music, and theatre, she is no stranger to the stage. Currently, she also volunteers as assistant artistic producer and performer with the Ottawa Rhythm Initiative Ensemble which cultivates a lively and positive Ottawa tap dance community and the art of tap dancing.
Jordan Samonas works as a performer, choreographer and producer of live music, dance events and multidisciplinary projects. Visionary, go-getter and creator, Jordan has a background and history in independently self-producing shows in the National Capital Region, having founded, produced and hosted the annual ROOTED Contemporary Dance (2015-present) in Wakefield, Quebec and North of Mind (2018) with Carleton U jazz-musician Dennis Bass, featuring acclaimed Canadian fingerstyle guitarist Don Ross.
