One of my Grandad’s favorites. He told me once that this song is how my grandma subtly told him she was interested in him during a thunderstorm in 1968. He took the hint. Match made in heaven. They were happily married until Nana’s death fifty years later.

"The Big Chill" brought me here in 2024. This film came out at the beginning of my first semester of college. (I am 59 in 2024.) I grew up with a lot of the music on the soundtrack but this one was before my time, and I did not know it as I did many other "oldies". I fell in love with it in September 1983 and have always owned a copy since that time. "The Big Chill" soundtrack is still one of my favorite albums. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I am 74, in the midst of a memory flashback with this song, while making breakfast. I was in High School when this came

A true classic. That's why it keeps coming back.
Brenda Reid, lead singer, is still around, and this song is 56 years old.
I'm 68 and remember when it was new.

I am here because of the song itself. Not because of "The Big Chill" or "Eileen" or "Living Single". I simply like good music and know where to find it.

That growl (on key, too!) in her voice knocks me over.
Classic. Never done better...

Sounds as good now as it did in 1963. Thanks for posting this old rock gem!

Great people. I remember playing bass for the Exciters. The Starglow Lounge in Flushing. My partner, Frankie Carr and I had such a great time as part of the Exciters backing band.
Herbie, Brenda, Lillian and Carol ... great people

I know something about love
You've gotta want it bad
If that guy's got into your blood
Go out and get him
If you want him to be
The very heart of you
Makes you want to breathe
Here's the thing to do

Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now

I know something about love
You gotta show it and
Make him see the moon up above
Out and get him
If you want him to be
Always by your side
If you want him to
Only think of you

Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now

Ever since the world began, it's been that way for man
And women were created
To make love their destiny
Then why should true love be so complicated, oh yeah?

I know something about love
You gotta take his hand
Show him what the world is made of
One kiss will prove it
If you want him to be
Always by your side
Take his hand tonight
Swallow your foolish pride

Tell him that you're never gonna leave him
Tell him that you're always gonna love him
Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now

Oh, you hafta tell him now (tell him that you're never gonna leave him)
Oh yeah (tell him that you're always gonna love him)
Yeah (tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now)

Darling, don't you let him go, now (tell him that you're never gonna leave him)
Oh yeah (tell him that you're always gonna love him)
Yeah (tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him right now)

Take his hand in yours and tell him (tell him that you're never gonna leave him)
Oh yeah (tell him that you're always gonna love him)

Everyone couldn't have grown up in this era of good music, but I did. Remember hearing this and so many great groups on a little transistor radio, great music great acts.
