How to step and repeat using Adobe Illustrator

In this video I show how to step and repeat an object in a similar way to Adobe InDesign using Adobe Illustrator. I am using Illustrator CS6 but the same action works in most other versions of Illustrator.

In the video I use the Alt key while clicking and dragging to duplicate an object; then Ctrl + D to duplicate my last action to demonstrate the typical method.

And then I use Transform each to duplicate an object to an exact measurement or distance. I then use Ctr + D to repeat the action.

While this isn't quite the same as Adobe InDesign it is a handy workaround if you want to repeat objects to an exact distance.

Thanks for watching.

Why they didn't mirror this to work like inDesign's step and repeat function makes now sense.
