Video Introduction:
Kellogs is one of the most valuable cereal-making companies globally with total revenue of 12 billion dollars. Kellogs was started by Dr John Harvey Kellogg and his brother William Kieth Kellogg in 1898 when they were experimenting with wheat. Soon both the brothers separated and William Kieth Kellogg ended up starting the battle creek corn flakes company in the year 1906. William soon raised more capital from investors to expand his business and by 1930 Kellogs company was ruling the cereals market of the united states of America. Kellogs finally entered the Indian market after 1991 when Dr Manmohan Singh announced the new economic liberalisation policy which allowed foreign brands to enter India and compete in the market. Kellogs entered the Indian market in 1994 aiming to acquire a huge market share in the cereals market but because of several business mistakes and plenty of marketing failures Kellogs company was continuously failing to capture market share. Finally, in 1996 Kellogs realised its business and marketing failures and turned around its business with a new business and marketing strategy because of which today Kellogs has more than 70% market share of the Indian cereals market. This video is a complete business case study on how Kellogs failed in India and what was their comeback strategy to beat big companies like Nestle and Quaker. This video is a complete business case study on Kellogs and their failure and comeback marketing and business strategies. This video also covers various business and marketing lessons which we can learn from Kellogs failure and comeback business and marketing case study and implement in our own business.

No matter. If Kellogg's capture 40% or 60% I still don't thinks Indian households eats such things as breakfast unless he/ she is on diet or you are out of regular breakfast ingredients

From personal experience: I used to work at the social media advertising agency for Kellogg's a long time ago. The marketing manager told us a lot of the above points in our introduction meeting. Based on these and many more learnings they started to roll out different products for different customers like Special K for health conscious people and Chocos for kids. After the meeting the marketing manager saw us fully grown adults having Chocos and we told her that she was wrong about Chocos being only for kids, some of us never ever grow up 😂😂😂

Kellogg's is selling sugary good for nothing for food in the name of healthy food. Even the Musueli products are full of sugar. I switched to Indian alternatives which are much better.

Kellogs aate hai jaate hai... Mere poha and idli zindabaad. Yeh shayad 70% market occupy karte hai lekin indian ghar nahi... This is all theoretical. Aam aadmi office jaane wale young population toh sadak pe khade rehke idli dosa pohe upma khaana zyada prefer karte hai... Which is much more healthy than corn flakes.... Yeh Mumbai ki story hai.... Baaki jagah ki nahi

Indeed amazing video! But out of the Ps one more P where kellog's stumbled was 'Positioning'. Failed to position its products. Do take a look in the kellogg's video out there on our platform to know more on this.🙂

Kellogg price is rs 500-600 for just
1kg.
No Indian is that stupid to use it at such high price. We want good food at #cheap price.
Cereal food isn't famous at all. Only some people might use it.

Maggi got famous due to cheap price and customizable. As people can add veggies easily.

Indian already have proper and healthy breakfast then western countries.
Where people eat stale fast food, cereals, sweet packaged products in breakfast.

Aditya Bhai... ..Kellogg's salesman till not reached at my brother's shop...Even the distributor not coverage that road which is airport road (vip) Rd...his excuse is Kellogg's distributorship is not profitable at that site...& Modern trade store like metro give better margins to retailer...so shopkeeps buys from there

Wrong pricing strategy is the reason. Kellogs marketing executive ( out of IIM s etc and not connected with reality ) set the prices of Kellogs products too high . Alternative s were available for people . High prices resulting in low volumes with out economic of scale resulted in losses .
