Carrying over your Nintendo account is a bare minimum expectation and this says nothing about backwards compatibility, though I would be surprised if there wasn’t any. It was already possible on the 3DS/Wii U to Switch but you had to link them together instead of just logging in

It'll be nice if they do something like the ds to 3ds where the old games fit in the new device but the new games don't go back so you can have better games then before but still play the old ones and have eshop purchases carry over

The old games for full price makes sense if they have to recode everything to work with a new console. With skyward sword in particular they would have to transfer the motion controls from the wii-mote to joycons, but also code a method for playing while in handheld mode.

It would be really cool if they did. Not a huge reach considering quite a few past Nintendo consoles were backwards compatible. Games like tears of the kingdom would be even better on a console that is more powerful.

But letting you carry over all your old games would be a good decision, a good choice that gives them some good will and keeps switch games relevant. But we’re talking about Nintendo, they’re basically allergic to good decisions.

I hope they make their new console just a tiny bit more powerful for the sake of the nintendo exclusives, no 4K needed. Just 1080P 45-60fps

Nintendo doesn't have a choice. They literally have to allow its customers to transfer their accounts to their new console in order to keep up with Xbox and Playstation, which already allow that.

Nintendo’s pricing policy is one of the things I feel they do right on. Since their prices never really change, I can buy with the confidence of knowing I won’t get fucked over by the game going on sale the following day or something. Also, the games are still great (Nintendo games, after all), so it never feels like I’m “not getting my money’s worth” or something.
