Macy’s and Walmart are just two massive retailers closing down stores. But why is this happening? And what other retailers are collapsing right now?

I'm sure there is a lot of retail theft but I wonder if Walmart could improve shrinkage by removing self service and hiring more cashiers.

Walmart started going down hill the day Sam Walton died. The day after his funeral assistant manager that was actually good was sent off and lazy good-for-nothings replaced them. The moral in the store I worked at died. We, the employees were treated terribly and were expected to take it. If you had an issue we were told to shut up or quit. I was lucky because my assistant manager had been there forever and he wasn't afraid to confront the other assistant managers.

If you can't make money and they are stealing from you dump your stores and do something else! It makes sense to me. They have no obligation to the customers if their stores are not profitable. If your customers are stealing from you now is a great time to do something else!

Wal Mart is the only one of these that I might miss. Lately it's been very disapointing to go shopping there because they discontinue good healthy items and replace them will cheap processed food items. And biggest thing is nothing they sell is made in USA like founder Sam Walton pledged they would concentrate on. Good bye.

Our family is avoiding Walmart. We share with our family and friends where prices are cheaper and easier to get in and out of the stores. We quit shopping at Macy's 10 years ago because the stuff they were selling wad crap, garbage.

If people are more forced to order most things online, expect porch pirates to be in greater numbers.

What happened to Stanley Marcus's Who Is Minding The Store, bravo merchandising to this mess of super stores who do not really give a crap, swallowed Mom and Pops who valued the customer to these sales people, untrained, unmannered, merchandising out the window for the horrible likes of Best Buy or Target, how disreputable. Good ridden to bad rubbish, I say.

You wanted to decrime theft even though it is God's Law, thou shalt not steal as their are consequences like being sent to the lower hellish realm and the line is drawn, they are never coming back up, such easy rules to follow, but humanity led astray by greed and elitist who thing they are playing god. God has a place for them, hubris carried the penalty of the second death, good ridden to bad trash, I say.
