My recent Remaster class coverage videos have underperformed slightly. Gotta increase engagement by any means necessary...
Consider checking out my series on the Pathfinder 2e monk, which I promise is NOT shitty! =D
ADDITIONS/ERRATA: I accept that Godbreaker is probably not L20 tier. I just wanted to talk about it! =D

Just a head's up, there were more changes than just what was listed.

Timeless Body became Peerless Form and went from a +2 Status bonus to saves against Poisons and Diseases and half your level damage resistance to Poison to a +2 status bonus to all Fort and Will saves, which I argue is a massive buff. Both still stop your aging IIRC.

Deadly Strikes and Diamond Fists combined together as a lower level feat. Fuse Stance lowered to a level 16 feat.

I get the impression that we'll be seeing a lot of monk stuff in the Tian Xia book, so I'm not too disappointed that we didn't get too much for it in PC2.

I've always thought it was weird that Monks don't get legendary proficiency with their unarmed strikes at any point. The fact that a Fighter can be better with their bare hands than a Monk when it comes to Strikes at any point in the game is just odd to me.

At first I thought Godbreaker was a total meme because the big payoff requires three consecutive hits (though the first one is guaranteed with Perfected form, assuming it's not a difficult target).

But I did some math, and even with a 60% initial hitrate (not counting Perfected Form), it statistically outdamaged Flurry+Strike+Strike. The extra 10 damage per hit (from falling) actually goes a long way, and you auto-prone the target upon landing. You will want Cat Fall + master or legend acrobatics to immune the fall in case you fail the combo, however.

You should treat the full effect like a bonus and not an expectation though, with that 60% initial hit rate your 2nd and 3rd strikes (assuming agile) are only at 40% and 20%, or 8% consecutively. Even with a 90% initial hit chance that's just 70% x 50% = 35%.

In any case you aren't likely to use Godbreaker as your go-to attack; you need to have the enemy grappled from the previous turn, and you need to immediately commit 3 actions. If the target is low health, you can't deal damage one action at a time and see if you want to keep going.

So basically this feat lets you be Hoarah Loux.

Thanks for the video!
With the Monk's Flurry archetype feat having a cooldown of 1d4, I wish there was an established option between 1 and 1d4 like 1d3, 1d2 or 1d4-1.
A Flat 2 rounds cooldown would also be preferable, or starting the cooldown only if you used Flurry twice in a row (within two rounds).
I'm happy about the main Monk buff :)
The archetype nerf just feels a bit too severe, so I like your suggestion to start the count in the same round that the Flurry is used.

Seeing how much improved the Barbarians were, which was already a highly regarded class, I expected them to do somethings for the Monk. Even though the class is great, because of its strong chassis, there were some Feat areas where it could improve.
Namely, they could add a few feats to support a Stance-Switch playstyle that only gets support at level 16. Also, they could merge some feats to make their effects more attractive, such as mixing Water Step with Dancing Leaf (Straight up worse than many Level 1 Ancestry feats), both highly situational feats that are not even in the conversation when it comes to feat choices.

Spicing up the Stances at very high levels would also be welcome. They kinda stop after their second feat and I think there could be a couple of feats that could add some flavor and power to the two types of stances in the game (Flexible unarmed attacks, like Dragon, and restricted attacks, like Crane).

I'm currently playing a fighter with the monk archetype in a campaign - we're level 13 now, and my character was introduced a few levels ago.

The entire concept is for him to go into Stumbling Stance (one of the few stances that don't require you to be unarmored), and feint for free once per turn with Stumbling Feint. The following two attacks are obviously great - expecially since my guy has Agile Grace and fighter proficiency.

I get why it had to be nerfed, is my point. However, there is a problem.

My GM makes custom relics with each of us, and we had a grand time making a relic largely centered around feinting, giving cool alternative feints and an item bonus to deception.

I built his personality and mechanics around that as well - going heavily into charisma (only 1 point behind strength) and prioritizing Deception above everything else, with Intimidation and Athletics being runners up.

While he is openly a thug and a bully, his unorthodox fighting style comes from how his mind was blown as a kid by avant-garde modern ballet - a fact he very much keeps secret, but which is exemplified by his relic - a ribbon from a torn ballet shoe. All of the alternative feints are named after ballet- and modern dance terminology. His entire way of doing things is based around this.

I am honestly okay with losing Flurry of Blows every turn, I really am. But please give me the free feint. It hurts so bad.

Flurry of Blows as granted by the Monk class needed an improvement as a class feature that would have been unattainable to the Monk Multiclass Archetype. This way, Flurry of Blows granted by the Multiclass Archetype could have remained as it was.

Also, Godbreaker is much more of a 16th level feat than a 20th level feat to me.

As a level 19 animal instict barbarian with monk dedication character player, that nerf is valid. It was op AF and it realy feelt like a must choice.

Another feat that was changed was Cobra Stance - originally it allowed the monk to do poison damage instead of physical (cool, but not exactly top tier); now the Cobra Strikes do Piercing Damage, are Venomous (a strike that connects does persistent poison damage) and Deadly D10. Basically, Cobra Strike went from "well, let's change the element" to "someone is going to die". Oh, and the stance boosts Fortitude saves.

Ancestral Weaponry got more then fused - it got expanded. It is now all Agile or Finesse weapons from the Ancestry Feat, not just the ones with the Trait.

god breaker visually and conceptually awesome but this is practically a trap feat as it sets you for disappointment, Any vanilla monk can just make any combination of 4 strikes/manuevers etc with 3 actions without any rider or restrictions, whereas this 3 actions stunt breaks down the first time you miss a strike which are pretty likely to miss when made at -4 or -8 map

I'm gonna play a monk in my next game and I'm glad that it's a pretty solid class already with not many changes.
