Universal health coverage in LMICs

Показать описание
What will it take to achieve universal health coverage in low and middle-income countries?
Our workshop explores how we can drive up not only coverage but also quality of care through research, ensuring that everyone has access to the medical and healthcare they need, from primary healthcare care and maternal and newborn support to vaccination programmes and emergency medicine.
The global commitment towards universal health coverage is an essential part of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, but in many low and middle income countries (LMICs), the quality of care provided remains sub-optimal - jeopardising patient safety and wasting valuable resources.
A historic focus on the financial aspects of universal health coverage has meant that healthcare systems are often fragmented. Our workshop highlights the importance of political will, clear assessment metrics, improved research capacity, improved adoption of digital technologies, and more focus on effective training of healthcare providers.
