We made our first visit to India in 2024. We have visited over 100 countries, but nothing quite compares to travel in India, which is a large, beautiful and diverse place, along with being the most populous country in the world. We found it is a country with some of the most friendly and kind people we have met during our world travels.

We started our India adventure in Delhi, where we explored Old Delhi, visited India Gate, walked through parks and rode tuk-tuks (auto-rickshaws) to see the sights. We then made our next stop in Agra to see the Taj Mahal. It was the experience of a lifetime.

The Oberoi Agra is a great place to stay as they offer good deals for people staying for more than one night.
Most rooms have a view of the Taj Mahal, the pool [and waterfalls] are fabulous and the food is absolutely amazing!
Travelling on your own in India is often quite challenging and taking a few days out to stay at a 5 star hotel is a rejuvenating break.
And their drivers will take you to the Taj Mahal whenever you like.
I travelled solo in India for six weeks and my few days in Agra are some of my most treasured memories of the trip because of my stay at the Oberoi. The sheer opulence really gives a sense of bygone days of the Raj.
Relaxation, history and splendour, all rolled into one. It was worth the investment because I certainly could never afford a luxury hotel anywhere else !!!

Oh those enterprising Indians, "you must hire a guide sir", yes, I guess there's a whole lot of visitors get "scammed" every day. Rather nice of them to offer, but of course it gives some locals a living.
