Back in July of 2022, I explored my 90th country, Guyana, beginning in the capital city, Georgetown. Come with me on my very first day in the country as I get my first taste of Guyanese food and explore the capital!

For this trip, I teamed up with Visit Guyana and Discovery Guyana. Our first adventure together was exploring the Bourda Market, followed by a trip to the famous Backyard Café. Inside the Guyana Shop, I saw items made by local women, including achar, cassareep, crafts, pepper sauces, and more.

One reason for Guyana being an extraordinary country is that every ethnic group has a great dish for their representation 🇬🇾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

To all the people who have been waiting for the Guyana series, REJOICE. Your patience had finally paid off. You all can relax and enjoy now. Nice start. I am seeing a lot of things that are common to the Caribbean and foods that are similar but called by a different name e.g. metemgee: oil down in Trinidad, mango sauce similar to mango chutney, and a lot of fruits and vegetables that can be commonly found in the region as well. Everything is FRESH: from garden or market to pot and straight to stomach 😄😄😄. So now we will all see the expanded versions of all those 'shorts' teasers David put on. The only problem I had was Delvin comparing limacol to Robitussin because he should have warned people NOT to DRINK it. We used to mix the limacol with coconut oil and rub our heads when we have a headache or fever. Very good remedy. Just waiting now to see what else is in store. Sorry guys but I tend to be analytical at times but that's just me. Good job 🙏🕊️✌️🇹🇹🇨🇦

I am proud of Guyanese Diversed culture .They learnt from each others and cook dishes from all ethnic groups. The guy was quick to say Pepperpot is a national dish but it' s only one of our national dishes. We have cultural national dishes such as DHAL, ROTIE, CURRIES, CHOWMEIN, FRIED RICE, STEWS, METAMGEE, COOKUP RICE AND THE LIST GOES ON. I would like the world to know we have more than one national dishes.Thank you very much.

I'm guyanese and you made me miss my home...we've got variations of all these dishes here in NYC BUT I KNOW that the taste there with all the fresh (from the earth, from the sea, from the gardens) flavors are out of this world. Nothing you've used has been processed or refrigerated. You can't beat that kind of living. I'm jealous now lol

Last time I visited Guyana was 1971. I am familiar with many of the fruits and the foods. Pepperpot also tastes good with pigfoot(...aka pig trotters) and pickled pigtail. I am glad you finally reached Guyana. I watched all your Trinidad and Tobago videos. During the dark years, there were severe food shortages in Guyana. It is reassuring to see the abundance of food products now, and the people thriving.
