Videos of former One Direction singer Liam Payne were released on Wednesday (October 16) by a verified social media account after his death was confirmed in Argentina.

The videos, showing Payne speaking, were posted on his Snapchat account, which is verified but it is not linked to his official website.

The footage was released at around 21hrs GMT (18hrs local time). Reuters was able to independently verify the location by the trees, building’s facade and field layout which match satellite and file imagery of the area. Reuters was not able to independently verify the date when the videos were filmed.

Payne was found dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires after falling from his third-floor room balcony, Argentine police confirmed on Wednesday.

In a statement, the capital police said they were called to the hotel in the capital's leafy Palermo neighbourhood where they were notified of an "aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."

The hotel manager said he heard a loud noise at the back of the hotel, and when police arrived they found that a man had fallen over the balcony in his room, the statement said.

Emergency workers confirmed the death of the 31-year-old British singer, who was reportedly found in the hotel's interior patio.

The hotel staff should have called ambulance and the police instead of carrying him to his hotel room and leaving him in there alone while he was having an episode. Alone, being manic with a balcony is a dangerous situation.
