In computing, a "workload" is the amount of processing that the computer has been given to do at a given time. It consists of some amount of application programming running in the computer, and usually has some number of users connected to it, interacting with the applications. 

Workload assessments are carried out to enable decision makers know what types of workloads to migrate to the public cloud and which are suitable for on-premises or private clouds.
