We had a hot Zumba Madam!

We all came out as gay.
Stay out of Chick-fil-A!
We had cheating...
And breakups!
I blew my whole career!

We really kicked box office butt!
I called that college girl a slut!
A change I sense...
The force has stirred...
The world met Honey Boo-Boo Child!
We all got funky Gangnam Style!
I fixed a masterpiece!
ERMAHGERD!!!! 

We had Colombian hookers!
Big scandals everywhere!
We kept Obamacare.
I argued with a chair!
We had a hard-fought election!
They kicked us in the rear!
It's Twenty-Twelve, the end is here!

We had Olympic superstars!
We put an SUV on Mars!
In my new book I bump and grind!
We sadly had to say goodbye.
We moved on up into the sky.
That's one giant leap for mankind!

We had Hurricane Sandy!
Replacement refs were wrong.
We still can't get along!
And Snooki's now a mom!
But our troubles are over,
'Cuz it's our final year!

Already 10 years and there is still a lot to unpack in this video. So i will be providing some context in each segment here in this comment.
0:05 - The end of the Mayan Calendar, leading to speculations of a prophecy where a blackhole named "Sagittarus A" will cause destruction to humanity.

0:27 - A rising popularity in the latin-inspired dance Zumba. With the international success of the compilation album "Zumba Fitness Dance Party" and their clothing brand "Zumba Wear", at one point they even became the largest fitness brand in the world.
0:30 - The release of the book "50 Shades of Grey" the best-selling book of the entire decade.
0:31 - Anderson Cooper, Jason Collins, and many other celebrities coming out in public.
0:33 - The chief executive officer of Chick-fil-A "Dan T. Cathy" made a series of opposing views on same-sex-marriage.
0:35 - Kristen Stewart caught cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.

0:37 - Professional cyclist Lance Amrstong tested for doping. Leading him to be stripped away of his seven Tour de France titles, and being banned for 10 years in competition.

0:42 - The Avengers grossing over $1.5 Billion, beating "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Hunger Games" in box office revenue.
0:43 - Talk-show host "Rush Limbaugh" when broadcasting remarks about contraceptives, labelled Georgetown Law University student Sandra Fluke as a "slut" or "prostitute".
0:45 - Disney aquires Lucasfilm for $4.5 Billion.
0:49 - The airing of the incredibly controversial tv show "Here Comes Honey Boo-boo"
0:51 - Gangnam Style by Psy. The most recognizable internet trend and music video of 2012, eventually becoming the first video on YouTube to reach a billion views.
0:53 - Cecilia Giménez failed restoration of the painting "Fresco of Jesus"
0:54 - Ermahgerd was a caption of a meme, with a photo of a young woman holding a series of Goosebumps books while making an unusual facial expression.
0:57 - Prostitution scandal involving US Secret Service agents in Cartagena, Columbia. As many as 20 women were involved in the case.
0:59 - David Petraeus, a retired four-star general and then-director of the CIA is accused of having an affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell.
1:01 - The Supreme Court uphelded Obama's health-care law by a vote of 5-4.
1:03 - Clint Eastwood's RNC speech, where he spent an improvised routine addressing an empty chair representing as Barack Obama.
1:04 - Obama with Joe Biden representing their reelection to their second term, beating Mitt Romney and his vice representative Paul Ryan.
1:11 - The 2012 London Olympics with gold medalist Missy Franklin, Michael Phelps, Gabby Douglas, and Usain Bolt. There is also an appearance by Mckayla Maroney and Queen Elizabeth's stunt double on a parachute during the live performance with James Bond.
1:14 - The landing of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars.
1:16 - Arnold Schwarzenegger published his book "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story" which also includes some details about his affairs.
1:19 - In the heaven sequence, the following people appear by order (taken from the official JibJab blog) Donna Summers, Andy Griffith, Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Ernest Borgine, Jerry Nelson (With Count), Hector Camacho, Sherman Hemsley, Larry Hagman, Michael Clarke Duncan, Twinkie mascot, Neil Armstrong, Ray Bradburry, Dave Brubeck and Maurice Sendak.
1:28 - Hurricane Sandy, which has caused massive destruction and deaths across eight countries.
1:30 - NFL referee lockout was a labor dispute between the National Football League and the NFL Referees Association after both sides failed to reach consensus on a collective bargaining agreement. This resulted into the usage of referee replacements into week 3 of the NFL season.
1:32 - The Gaza Strip conflict was a conflict between Israel and Palestine, where the IDF has strucked more than 1, 500 airstrike targets. Killing the chief of the Gaza military wing "Ahmed Jabari" and multiple Palestinians in the process.
1:34 - And finally, reality tv personality Nicole Polizzi (a.k.a Snooki) giving birth to her first child.
