Don't fall for this marketing deception. I speak from experience because I have this Inverter AC. It doesn't cool faster than a conventional compressor. It is actually much slower because the compressor starts at a slow speed then increases in speed not the other way around. More importantly, its cooling performance is lower than that of a normal AC.

Inverter ac run all the time albeit at low power consumption, non inverter will just halt a thermostat level. It will start again when temp rises to a certain extent, depending upon how thermocut has been set and its quality, there may be more pronounced rise and fall giving more temprature variation. other than temp variation, there is no real benefit of inverter, infact the power consumed is almost the same. a 5 star non inv model saves more than a 3 star inverter, infact inverters waste quite some energy in control chip and ac>dc conversion. I use inverters for bedrooms where good sleep is required due to stable temprature. i use non inv for office where i often manually control my ac. inverter goes bust more often than non inverter which is more robust. inverter ac if left running all day also has less life

Not gonna works if you're always using the lowest cooling temperature.The compressor are never gonna get the cut off moment at all.It works if you set the temperature at 24 degree celcius or slightly higher than that.You're also need to buy a slightly bigger air con BTU capacity for more cooling efficiency

It all comes down to one's usage.
Simple rule:-
If you use it for nearly 6 months a year then get an inverter AC given your room is air sealed and not on the top floor if living in an apartment.
Else if usage is low i.e. 2-3 months then take noninverter.

I changed a 15 year old non-inverter air conditioner to an inverter a/c. The old unit was most reliable but it was time to upgrade to an energy efficient system. The new inverter system cut my power bill in half.

With the new inverter system we developed mold in the air ducts which had to be steam cleaned every season. Something electronic would fail every year requiring replacement under warranty (I still had to pay for the service call and labor.); the compressor had to be replaced at 3 years, and after five years the entire system had to be replaced.

My efforts to be "green" ended up costing me.

Inverter AC do not cool immediately, it takes some time to achieve the desired temperature, but it will maintain that same temperature because the compressor do not switch off but runs at lesser power.

Non-inverter is on-off controller. Compressor started when room temperature higher than target-temperature. Compressor stopped when room temperature lower than target-temperature.
Inverter is proportional controller. Compressor runs faster when room temperature higher than target-temperature. Compressor runs slower when room temperature getting close to target-temperature. How fast a compressor runs, follows RPM=120×freq/pole equation.

how about the expenses on maintenance? and i just thinkin' that it might maybe the compressor was more bruised, i mean over used. maybe it will not last long? any please?

Thats good.. but how many years we need to recover the money we invest on inverter AC considering the fact Inverter AC save Power ? If my usage is 6 hours daily. Because even a 0.8 ton Inverter AC is atleast 40% more expensive than NON-Inverter 5 star AC..

what about the maintenance and spare parts cost 1 ton non inverter compressor around 7000 rupees, and the circuit board below 2000 rupees in inverter type what is the replacement compressor cost ? what is he electronic pcb cost ? they inverter compressor run all the time in slow speed so the tear and wear durability of compressor shoul also take in account

hi..  what if in a hotel chain.  of which usage per room is just 3-4 hours per stay..   would i still benefit from inverters?  knowing that my guest stay in just a short period of time .. then have to turn off the ac.  and then turn it on once a new guest arrives..    

or will it be beneficial for me to use non-inverter   because per usage is only a few hours..

I too was all taken up by the advent of the Inverter, but after doing the math, it didn't seem THAT fantastic.

Disadvantages of an Inverter:
1) More expensive purchase price
2) Even more expensive replacement parts comparatively
3) Cost saving on electricity isn't as much as you think. The Wattage difference between a typical 12kBTU/18kBTU is anywhere from 200-350w per hour. That sounds like a lot but do the math on your local electricity rates. If you run your aircon 4 hours a day for 6 months a year, it'll probably take you in the order of 5+ years before you break even on the purchase price difference, and by that time the aircon will probably have a mechanical failure out of warranty, then see point 2.

It is impossible to repair inverter ac if it's circuit malfunctions and the replacement circuit board are for 35-40% of the total cost of the ac system that too if you're lucky you get one.. stick to the regular ones they're much cheaper to repair and replace
