This is EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you!

While I follow A TON of artists on YT, you’re one of the few that I watch consistently due to your relevant and relatable content.

I’m just starting out in watercolours but feel that I can learn so much from people using other mediums, even though I have no interest in using them myself, because it helps me to understand various concepts that I just haven’t learned yet.

I appreciate you, your beautiful art and your great advice! Thank you!

You’re an extremely talented artist! Your skills are outstanding. My journey into art started 2 years ago after recovering from leukemia. I started with tutorials, then patreon and most looked good. My issue started when I painted on my own (I have only done watercolor). Drawing, colors, composition, and creating etc are extremely difficult! And the second graph was correct-your perception is different as you progress. All I know is I have to paint almost every day, practice, practice practice. I hope to be as good as you one day. Love your videos, thanks for your tutorials

Thank you for another thoughtful and insightful video. I have often thought that we need to broaden our horizons and learn from wherever we can. An oil painter may not teach us the fundamental qualities of how to get the most out of watercolour paints, for example, but they may have a pearl of wisdom as to composition, lighting and creating drama. A photographer may equally teach these lessons - and by studying their work and adapting to our own, we may get insight into creating a scene that shows a snippet in time, but infers so much more. There are so many places and options for expanding our abilities if we are willing to search them out! 💙💜

I absolutely loved learning from you about that gap that sometimes shows up! And that project is absolutely beautiful!

Thank you so much! The graph really opened my eyes. The other take away was when you said you’d spent TWO YEARS doing drawings of coral before putting together the class. Sometimes it seems like magic but now I know that no matter your level there is always a lot of hard work. Thank you so much!!

Beautiful drawing, Sandy. I am anxious to start the class because I’ve been admiring your underwater coral scenes for a long time. LOL - it happens to me ALL THE TIME - my vision very often exceeds my skill. But, now and then, I surprise myself, so I have hope and keep going.

Boy I needed those exact words. Thank you. 😊 I’m looking forward to taking the class once I get back from a well needed road trip. I’ll be sketching the great outdoors in the meantime.

I love underwater scenes, and I love Copic alcohol markers. I have this new class on my wish list! Maybe Santa will be kind enough to deliver it to me this year!

Thank you for this video and for tackling this topic. I loved your tips around 7:45 minutes; they gave me a way forward with my watercolor practice. I am a self-taught watercolor hobbyist but I take my practice seriously and thrive on it. I also loved the graph. Super encouraging and inspiring video!

What a great question and answer. So odten I get ideas in my head and have no idea how to make them happen. Haven't taken any classes for a long time, so that's part of the problem I'm sure. TFS

PS do you think you could do a sort-of 20 questions to identify what is wrong with a drawing/coloring image that we just don’t like? Or is that more of an instinctual recognition from years of practice? I. E. Could you put that into words. Thank you! I’ve missed you!! You dropped out of my feed a couple of years ago and I had to go looking for you. So glad I did!

I just recently found out that you're a Pacific Northwesterner like myself (I'm in Eastern Washington) and I have a question for you: You know all of those big pine trees that we have around here? I think they're called Ponderosa Pine? Could you make a video on how to draw those, especially with alcohol markers? I have been trying to draw those trees for quite a while--from the trunk and bark, to close-ups of the needle clumps, to the whole tree from a distance--and I can *never* get them right.

I've been looking at those trees my entire life, so you'd think they would be easy for me to draw, but... NOPE! 😅
