That mic sounds fucking amazing for a head set

That's a great sounding mic. Honestly.

They're great pair of headphones but I recently get audio cutting or sometimes a whoosh sound at random times. I repeatedly unplugged the 3.5mm jack off the headset and plugged back again by slightly twisting it in clock-wise direction until it locks. But again, still getting a complete audio cut or white noise whooshy sound in the left cup. I'll give it one more go before returning it back.

Daft question, can you mute the mic through a button on the headphones?

Sad to say, but, a crack already started to appear on the „problem part” of my Rode NTH-100 headphones, and I will soon have to send the headphones in warranty already, I hope in the future Rode could reinforce this locking mechanism casing.

if the mic is detachable, can I hook up a lav mic or my NTG instead? Does the normal version the mic output?

The review is great and helpful. I only find the description of the sound odd. These headphones lack highs for a monitor and their midrange is warmed up and coloured a bit. Not bad sound, but definitely not perfect as you're suggesting. There are still better models for midrange linearity like DT770 pro, DT700 pro X and Beyerdynamic's and Sennheiser's open back models as well as more specialised models like Ollo, which are also better made. They can be fitted with a n inline mic like V-moda boom pro or ablet mic, which IMO makes the Rode slightly less appealing. Their build quality isn't as good as it may seem because the headband is prone to cracking at joints. The sound quality from the mic is great though and if you don't like the tone, measurements are available for calibration. It does roll off at 10kHz like most headset mics, but their bandwith can still be extended a little bit with EQ.

Worth noting another reason why it isn't ideal for broadcast as no XLR - without a few bulky adaptors or two, also interesting that the rodecaster can't accommodate the mic either - really is just for gamers, streamers, and people who spend their lives on zoom/teams

i just received my rode nth 100m today, i can hear all the rubbing sound when i touching the cable or cable gliding on my shirt.
its like a "papercup telephone"... maybe im too used to my open back headphone? or is it the cable material causing the annoying sound?

Sounded great actually. I supposebthey have hidden a Rode lavalier mic inside. I have now placed an order.

You've got the mic far too far away from your mouth, moving it closer will surely help the audio quality and help reduce it capturing background noise

Would the mic works on other headphones

Cheaper to buy them separately. You can get the headphones for £75 from most places and the mic for less than £60.

I don't wanna be that guy, but you lost a lot of money if you actually tossed the "old ones" out... because you can buy the mic itself for 60 bucks and attach it to the original model, which already had the option to get the cable on either side... just sayin' :/

Doesn't sound muffled, it sounds great. Sound better than your other mics what you use in this video ;). Shure sm7b is actually very muffled sounding mic, I have no idea why it's so popular, most over rated mic, even the direct copy of it presonus pd-70 sounds way better and is soooo much cheaper.
