Sound Level Meter IoT using ESP8266, SparkFun Sound Detector and Arduino

The idea is to have a couple of devices like that one, constantly updating data about noise levels, and making it public to the population.

In order to demonstrate this idea, I created this iOS App with a couple of different locations in Recife (where I live) simulating that concept.

Hello. great job! One question: Is the sensor sensitive enough to detect the sound in a room, say people talking, or do you have to be very close to the microphone for it to detect it?

Hey! II guess the sound doesnt come from the sparkfun? Audio output doesnt look used.. I'm just wondering how it sounds like, can't find any straight audio recording out of it online..

Estou com projeto parecido com seu, mas usando o rasp, porém eu tô me deparando com problema em relação aos microfones e seus amplificadores.
Quando você montou seu projeto, você usou um amplificador com ganho fixo? Pois vi muitos microfones já para Arduino e outros módulos, mas quando se vai ver o amplificador deles nota-se que eles têm ganho variando com a frequência.

Do you know what the decibel range limits are for a set up like this? Do you think it can detect anything above 90 dB?

Sir, how to do the calibration of the sensor ? I have tried the calibration by comparing the analog value from the sensor with the dB measured by sound meter app. However, the analog value of the sensor shown is almost the same although the sound goes up to 80dB from 40dB. Is there any solution to solve this?

Does the system would still work if i use other than the sparkfun sound detector with just a 3 pins (VCC, GND, OUT) sound sensor? I mean it would still be able to collect the sounds that is to be processed and measured?

Your project is nice but I have a doubt for my project that, the microphone displays various values for the sound input. But I need the value in Decibel, so how can I convert the voltage reading from microphone to the corresponding decibel value. Is there any expression is available? If there kindly comment it or else give any solution to solve as possible.

Does it calculate dB(A)? How accurate is the dB-value? I need to measure aircraft-noise and need something that is as reliable als a cheap chinese SPL-meter. :)
