EESN: Constructive Climate Change Conversations

Talking about climate change can be stressful and polarizing. In this webinar from January 16, 2020, Emily Moberg '11, PhD '16 will explain several tested communication tools that convey science of climate change in a way that is memorable, avoids unproductive directions, and builds momentum for collective action.

Emily will cover the work the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI) has done in researching how important framing is to climate change communication then cover a few of the tools that people can use in their conversations: (1) "heat trapping blanket" & "regular and rampant" metaphors, (2)  use of values in communication, and (3) the importance of incorporating solutions. She will be presenting examples and share information about additional resources.
