Thanks for posting this and putting it down to "plain language". Many, MANY people need to hear lifestyle choices and pills impact our entire system. So many physicians, these days, either don't make themselves understandable to lay people or just simply don't take the time to explain diseases and conditions to their patients. It's a crying shame what happened to Glen Frey, and this message needed to get out. Thanks again.

I had pretty aggressive RA and what my dr did was put me on methotrexate for a year at max dosage. Well i didn't like the way it made me feel. I stopped taking it, then I was diagnosed, and am currently being treated for Bladder Cancer. I put 2 and 2 together and pretty much accepted that metho caused my bladder cancer.

Eric: Thanks for getting the message out that pharmaceuticals does not have to be the reflexive treatment path. In the US, doctors are drug pushers for Big Pharma for the most part. Typically, a doctor must see five or six patients per hour to meet his or her profit quota. So a doctor has one hand on the doorknob and the other on a script pad when listening to a patient's symptoms in the 10 minutes they have together. Does this scenario ring true in New Zealand as well?

I was just diagnosed with RA at the age of 41. I love nothing more than every type of red meat, beer and salty foods but have never questioned it since I'm very active and what i thought was healthy. Probably why I have this disease so young. So I am in the process of changing my diet, it's not easy. The doctor has convinced me that I should be taking Methotrexate, folic acid, prilosec, ibuprofen 3x a day, and vitamin D because tests showed a deficiency. Is there a safer option for me?

It is so difficult to get someone to change their lifestyle when they get very set in their ways and they are older (over 50). They would rather just keep living the way they live and take the drugs. When you try to inform people of this, they're in denial and just think their doctor knows best. Sugar is very addictive.

My sister in law and niece both have RA, it's heredity on my sister in law family.As far as Cronies disease and "IBS". 2 family member has Cronies disease, Myself and 3 others has IBS . Since I changed my way of eating food, so far I don't have was Shocked when I read about Glen Frey, I never knew he had health issues .I also grew up listening to his music . Glen playing loud music, I surprised he didn'thave Meniere's Disease, that's another health issues, I have.  This supposedly caused by listening to loud music, (  I never turned the volume that loud ) , and I guess other things can cause it to like stress  .All I know is  there's no cure to fix it, listening to sounds in the ear, 24/7 it will drive you crazy .

I have crohns.I am allergic to remicaid, and humira gave me swollen painful joints in my hands.I am now taking methotrexate, steroids, and cimzia but the mood swings are terrible.a!so there is a problem taking cholesterol meds and steroids.do you think this is too much?

Been on Aciphex (Rabeprazole sodium) 20 milligrams daily for years & years. Now I'm getting scared of taking it daily for so how in the world can I get off of it? If I go one day without it, I have non-stop acid reflux so bad it's like boiling lava. Even water gives me severe reflux without taking Aciphex.

This is unrelated, but I wanted to hear your opinion regarding consuming bulgur wheat while on your candida crusher diet.

It has been part of my diet for so long, and I'd like to know if I'm fine.

You were visibly bummed out by the news. I understand that autoimmune is much more prevalent in women and and observed that more often then not, men who do have autoimmune conditions tend to be slender, like Glenn Frey. Just speculating that muscle mass has a part to play in protecting us against autoimmune conditions.
