Colin is such a great name for him. I know Atlas goes more with the aesthetics of the names you have for your pets, but that’s been his identity for his already long life and he knows it and responds etc. Please keep his name as Colin ❤

Please let him be Colin, that was probably his name for all his life and he will listen when you call him 💞🍀

I have to say Lydia, I fully fully salute you. As someone who has been in the equestrian world for 10+ years having seen it many times I was slightly worried that you would over horse yourself as a first time owner. I am so pleased that you as a rider have been aware of the type of horse you need rather than the one that you want in the long run! It has brought a big smile to my face that you have remained conscious of your ability at the moment and I am so excited to continue following your journey ❤️

Please keep his name as Colin, it’s bad luck to change a horses name. I’ve always loved watching him on Charlie’s channel he’s always reminded me of the horse from “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” book and animation. He’s so kind and gentle and so perfect for you.

Please resist changing his name especially at a time of great change and adjustment for him. Best wishes for you both

Definitely get a vet check done, or show these clips to one of the vets at your barn for confirmation before you hire. You can see and hear how off his gate is, particularly in that shot from behind.
It could be an easily corrected problem but it could be something that could cost thousands of pounds in rehabilitation. More than you bought him for.
Always, always get a vet check done before buying a horse even if you trust the person you’re buying from. Think of it like buying a car. Always check under the hood before you take it home, otherwise you could end up with something that doesn’t run. In this case the running is literal. ❤❤

I started watching you at the beginning on 2020 after finding your house clean out/organize videos and then to seeing you get your 1st packet of seeds and what that has now transformed into for you is amazing to see! I truly enjoy your 2 videos a week!

I love this for you! Former barrel racer here and the thing about owning/riding horses is everyone has opinions. I love the quiet side of horsemanship, the ones there to show you with love and support. The others just seem too loud and wanting to be heard and I resonated more with the quiet souls who had wisdom to share and support to give. All the love and best wishes from Florida!

Lydia, your last video resonated with me so much and I had just written an article on my substack about vision boarding and living with the seasons. Plus, I never realized how old you were and it made me realize that as someone ten years younger I have so much time and I’m in my Lydia 10 years ago phase still building and gaining experience. There’s no rush to get to this more establish point of life and I have time to experience things and there’s so much to come because I view you as someone with so much time to experience more things and more life! Thank you for always being an amazing role model

As a 19+ years show jumper and long-time follower of you, I have loved watching your horse/riding journey! I love that you are aware of the rider that you are and the horse that fits your needs. All the best of success with your riding journey! (And don’t let the judgmental horse people get you down)

I finding all this very uncomfortable. As a horse owner so many red flags here. This horse is not right. I would never part with my old boy to (no offence meant) someone inexperienced. I wouldn’t want to put a loyal uncomplaining boy in a situation where his voice couldn’t be heard or understood. And changing his name is just not on is what he’s understood his whole life.

I love that you’re going for an older horse. I, too, learned as an adult on a dressage horse schooled to Grand Prix. He taught me so much because I knew any mistakes were my doing, not his. So I could better learn from them. He was a gentle giant. ❤❤❤

He knows his name is Colin. Atlas sounds too contrived.

Please keep him Colin, Atlas is the equivalent of his kennel club name, like the sausages. He will respond to Colin when you call him in the fields. It's a lovely old man name for a lovely old gent.

I love that you are going about this with such thoughtful intention, no doubt Colin will have some of the best years of his life with you. There is such a special bond with your horse that is magical, so happy for you!

When you say 'colin' it sounds so warm and cuddly and you instantly love him. But with 'atlas' it sounds a bit harsh and more of a designer name wihtout the feels. Sorry. Id prefer Colin xx

No criticism. Are he horses back legs okay? Genuinely those eyes. I’m a vet and the way that horse is walking is not right. When you began to ride the movement of his back leg was clearly wrong. Please let us know if there is a reason for that. He doesn’t look sound.
