My ParrotOS / Parrot Security 4.6 Linux Distro Review

Parrot is awesome, been using parrot since 1.x and it's come a long way, I'm glad they succeeded because earlier on the project was in jeopardy due to financial reasons but the community rallied and now it's a premium security oriented OS!
Much more secure for daily use out of the box than Kali with sandboxing... Great video Tom

Would love to see a video on OpenVAS. We are currently implementing this for internal testing at our company running with Kali. Will check out Parrot on my homelab, your videos are a compelling reason to switch.

Used to distro hop. Used mint years ago. Went to lubuntu for a bit due to the laotop being old. Now using parrot full version just incase i need anything built in. Also like the anon surf and TOR buikt in plus theres firefox and firefox esr

Every 6 months or so, I get a wild hair to give Parrot a solid go. Every time, I always run into a major issue right away that keeps me from using it. This last time, I had several issues. 1st, apparently there is some strange going ons with the write cache. As in, there apparently is zero without doing some major configurations....It took about 1.5 hours to run the update after installation on a top end computer with 1Gbps I went to get VM Workstation pro up and running which is a mandatory basic tool I use daily. Nope, didnt work either. I tried putting some time into it and working through it. Couldnt figure it out. I asked for help on forums and had people trying to shame me for wanting to use that over virtual box....Still has a ways to go, maybe ill try again next major release.

The Raspberry Pi 4 is great for lab experiments but it generally sucks for any 7/24 implementation without an SSD or expensive rare single level flash SD card or Industrial USB single level flash thumb drive. Too many don’t seem to understand nearly all SD cards and thumb drives use multi level flash that’s limited to just a few hundred writes/erases per block with relatively crude controllers unable to make them work for 24/7 system drives. So a Pi is generally doomed to failure in 24/7 server use without some expensive measures that cost much more than the Pi itself. It’s something too few seem to understand and prefer to blame on “bad” SD cards when it’s their own fault for not understanding the limitations of various storage media.

I been using 4.7 for sometime now, but they keep upgrading and downgrading the kernel they should do more test and make sure about the kernel, injection patches etc

ived used both parrot and kali on my laptop and inside vms. ive found that parrot is much more feature rich and just runs better on older hardware

Parrot has been my daily driver for a couple years now, since i have only used Kali a couple times. The extra crypto, programming tools, & privacy protection tools are just some features not found in other distros. Get Docker available or a virtual environment & your now god-like

Only issue I've had is VLC kind of sticks or rather when ckosed the icon stay on the panel and have to run the kill it to get it to stop and play another video. Otherwise its fine. It even gave me a ton of new options for sand boxing lots of stuff.

i have the new thinkpad x1 and i had major issues when i updated parrot os. wifi won't work, mousepad won't work.

hi, I installed PArot Security on my mackbook, I could not find the SSD, som its innstalld to an external HDD, no have webcam or microphone, I have WiFi and wired network, I have bluetooth I have not heard the fan blowing, is there any who can give any sugestion on how to solve this problems? I just set up an account on Parrot comunity so I can check around for learning getting to know the OS. but I am greatful for all the shortcuts to solving the problems with the setup. thanks.
