Those are definitely cosmos, not African marigolds. Cosmos sulphureus to be exact. I have both African marigolds and sulfur cosmos in my yard. They’re both annuals. Both often reseed but it’s a good idea to save seed anyway because during an excessively rainy, excessively humid period, their flowers, seeds, and seedlings die off or are eaten by caterpillars and then they just stop reseeding. So you have to put down seed once the season changes.
