Motovlog Helmet Setup | GoPro Hero 8 Black + Media Mod = Simple Helmet Mic Setup!!

Donnie, great informative video... its always nice to learn this stuff thru guys that do the same activity as opposed to the big generic YouTubers. I got the HERO8 too, but I've been running it in the Protective Housing from GoPro. The audio seems to work fine for vlogging with or without the solid back. One time I used the skeleton door and had condensation from my breath fog my lens and ruin my footage, so I started using the solid door. The audio is cut back a little, but I am able to increase it upon editing to a good level. I use a proshot chin cam mount too for both moto and mtb (2 different full face helmets). Have you seen the video from RideFreakTV for the external battery setup he devised without the MediaMod? I was going to use it, but the open side door price went up/back ordered and I didn't get it yet. Maybe I should just get the MediaMod instead. I got the Protective Housing from GoPro because I wanted to protect the camera, but it won't allow a battery cable thru. I could machine a hole in side it for a pass-thru because I really don't need waterproof aspect and the lense would still be protected. I got the housing for $25 on discount fro GoPro. It seems to easy and too often that I bump the camera into the handlebars if I am on any uphill hike-a-bike jostling around. The MediaMod would now compound that risk, but it appears fairly compact. Nice video. You covered all my questions. Quick capture, 1 out of 10 times mic not connected. I find out it is happening when I turned on and off camera in short gaps. Hope they will fix that somehow in next firmware updates.

Be careful upgrading, I use the dongle with my gopro8. The update that adds the media mod capability messed everything up. After recording for about 40 minutes I would lose audio until switching out the battery. I was able to find software and downgrade the software and it works good again.

Great review. I liked the Sena Bluetooth Pack for the GoPro 3 but have never found anything I really like for newer cameras. I might give it a try after tax season.

Good explanation, good video, good setup. I ride the Osmo Action which has a pretty good micro on the back. it is enough to understand me well in the video. But next time I would also buy the go pro 8

HI I HAVE THE SAME SET UP AS YOU, I HAVE LOST HOURS TRING TP SET UP MY HRO 8 VERY frustrating with the program’s! Mostly just as I get out on the bike my battery only lasts about 20 minuets? Then on top of that disappointment when I download my video it comes up in a dozen or so frustrating small clips? Can you help here ? Yours

Hi dude! This is really good video! But i have a problem with my media mod or maybe with the microphone. When i start the video recording after this i just hear something quiet. So doesent record my voice but i dont know why is this happened? I use this trrs to trs 3.5 jack adapter.
