Interesting video, although I'm not sure what bracelets have to do with prepping, other than allowing you to survive the next post-apocalyptic fashion show :). Still, they remind me of when I was a young-un, making jute macrame plant hangers for my mother using pretty much the exact same square knot that you were demonstrating. We'd use two chords, and hang them from a hook above to make the knotting much easier. You have to watch out for jute and hemp though, lots of slivers.
