Am I the only one who thinks this is a GREAT movie? even though its not widely famous doesnt have big budget no fancy scenery just shooting in a living room and no top paid actors. However those things I LOVE THIS MOVIE

One of the best low budget movies ever. The movie is similar to 12 angry men, everyone just sitting and talking.

Jerome Bixby had the concept since the early 1960s and completed it on his deathbed in April 1998. No wonder why it is such an intriguing piece of work!

This is my favorite movie! The script is PERFECT! The setting in one room with the cast is riveting. I have no idea why this masterpiece was not recognized en masse.

There is an episode of Star Trek (TOS) called "Requiem For Methuselah" in which the main protagonist was a man called Flint who was over 6000 years old and assumed different characters throughout history such as Leonardo DaVinci and Brahms, and had accumulated vast wealth and knowledge in the process. The writer of that episode was Jerome Bixby.

No action, no danger, no sub par plot lines. Just a few people in a room, having an intellectual conversation about being thousands of years old, and wondering how that would work. And explaining it through actual terms that you dont need degrees to understand. My favorite fucking movie ever. Holocene coulda been better but it was good too

In my late 20s a wonderful polish girl had me watch this movie with her while I studied in Germany. Now I'm over 40 and when I want to recreate or remember our time together I watch parts of this movie. To this day I've always found it to be true and faithful.

I don't know when the concept for this kind of story was first written but I wonder how the details of the story will be like if one were to be written today. In a book written by Anne Rice, a character who was a journalist was "ecstatic" and nearly did not leave this other character alone who was born during the time of ancient Egypt. If I were to meet someone who lived for 14000 years, I'll ask the questions about the "mysteries" which were left unanswered today and ask for a translation of all the things chiseled in stones or tablets such as those written in ancient Sumerian or Egyptian.

This is not an explanation, this is retelling the movie word by word.

The life of an immortal is fraught with solitude and malice. I wonder if in that universe the reason why "John" is such common name for many people in the western world is because of this one man and his many lives😂😂😂.

And this is why God doesnt allow us to know everything in the universe because we wouldnt be able to survive such info! The man got a stroke when he found out the guy was his dad!

I loved this movie. The concept was so very appealing to me. But there were a couple things I found far more unrealistic, than a man claiming to have lived for 14, 000 years.

As soon as he started his story, with the, "I had a chance to sail with Columbus, once, " line, soon afterwards, the group agreed to "Play it out. Let's see where this goes." In other words, right from the start, not one of them believed it was real and it was nothing more than a, "thought experiment." So...

1. Why the ridiculously unjustifiable anger from William Katt's character. Why was he so quick to that anger and feel the need to even think about a psychiatrist, much less call one?
2. The religious nut... can we all say, "over-act much?" Why did she get so unrealistically emotional? Some guys comes along and said, "I was Jesus, " and immediately she loses her mind and goes into tears? Meanwhile, I tell a Christian their religion is, "imaginary nonsense, " I get a debate and threats of Hell. This woman goes WAY beyond reality with her reaction.
3. At the end, when he says, "Time to get off..." it's all been a story... They all were unjustifiably angry. Wasn't it already established in the beginning of the story, they would, "play it out and see where it goes?"
4. The whole, "Wolfie, " thing, at the end of the movie... It royally pisses me off no one - except the girlfriend, who leaves with him - is aware of any of that. Imagine if they all heard it and where there for the Psychologist's death.

As others have said, you didn't actually explain the movie, just summarised it.
