Dyslexia is a very misunderstood disorder, and it makes reading and writing difficult for many people. Tara is here to discuss a new typeface that is designed specifically for readers with dyslexia.

I have dyslexia. I had struggled through all of my grade school career until high school (sophomore year) where I was finally tested and was pronounced dyslexic. I was tested because I couldn't keep up with all of my classes because of the increased amount of reading one must do in high school. So they put me in classes for "special education" but this was also not the place for me. Like they say in the video here I am actually above average when in comes to intelligence level so the special education classes they put me in were way to easy. I really needed some sort of middle ground but there was none unfortunately. I was not a fan of school because I wasn't very good at it admittedly due to my dyslexia. Its been an ongoing struggle my whole life. I don't feel I am capable of college because I wouldn't be able to keep up with the amount of reading it takes. How dyslexia affects me is with word recognition and comprehension also with my spelling which is why I use Fire Fox for the word check. For instance I could read a simple two line sentence and have no idea what I had just read even if I read it out loud. I also cant read very fast. I was actually just recently rejected to join the air force national guard due to me being dyslexic which was rather heart breaking. I honestly don't know what I am going to do for a career in my life. I am 20years old now and find myself at a loss. I am very intelligent and very hands on. I am really into Jeeps and can take a whole Jeep apart and build it all over again with my eyes closed. Not being able to be capable of college and not being excepted by the national guard has made life complicated. Not sure what to do to be honest.

I am dyslexic.  I use a double, recursive substitution cipher to keep my mind from getting confused with words.  It is an interesting solution that I have used since sixth grade.

I was told I have a severe case of dyslexia. As well as the b d p reversal I have no damn idea left from right. Most days I go through a check list. I broke this arm, the arm I broke was my left. From that it's either left or not left which would be right.
A damn hard thing for normal people to understand.

The original cause of dyslexia was the invention of writing. Before writing no one was known to have dyslexia. Human advancement turns neutral qualities into handicaps or abilities. Before maths no one was known to be good at maths or bad at maths. The ability make equations existed before the need to do it. A neutral quality.

The advent of VCRs in the 80s on produced a segment who have difficulty conceptualising and navigating menus for the operation of such equipment. Previously everyone only operated a few dials and buttons on TVs and no one was a gifted or hopeless VCR programmer.

Consider Synaesthesia, the assigning of colours to numbers. Today it's an interesting curiosity which is neither positive or negative. Tomorrow it may be an advantage or disadvantage with new technology.

I have severe dyslexia and it's really hard I found out in the second grade and before that everyone thought I was dumb and I hade to repeat first grade because I didn't know how to read. Still today I have kids making fun of me and teachers who don't care because it's extra work for them in 6 th grade my math teacher called me dumb because I couldn't do 60 problems in 1 minute. Can you do a video on Dyspraxia or DCD because I've always had all of those problems and I've never been diagnosed with dyslexia just dyspraxia and I have problems with numbers to especially really simple additions or subtractions and I've looked around and I have a lot of traits or dyslexia and dyscalculia what's that about?

It makes paper routes difficult when address numbers change as you look at them,

As a 3:rd grader we had our first big test and att that time i din't know i had dyslexia, when we started the test and The time starting to tick i were able to reed a large amount off text, I thaut in my mind but it was just only a cuple off sentenses. I start to panick becaus i have't even started on the questions so I start to cry. Sinse that day i got help with my dyxlexia and thats my motivation to reed and now i'm 14 and have a C in my nativ languitch swedish. Is it more or less difficult for people with dyslexia to read cursive? On the one hand the letters are more similar but on the other they are bound visually in more dimensions.

as being dyslectic myself it is true this font works. you van download the font for free at 

other wise use Verdana or maybe Arial. and please everyone stop using Times new Roman. it is horrible to read.
