Dana White Puts a Damper on Nick Newell's UFC Dream

UFC president Dana White was so impressed with one-armed fighter Nick Newell that he invited him to compete on his Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series to try and earn a UFC contract.

Newell fell short, losing a unanimous decision to Alex Munoz. It wasn't simply his first loss in four years, for Newell, it might have spelled the loss of his UFC dream, as White doesn't sound inclined to offer Newell another shot, even on the Contender Series.

"I just always believed that the UFC was a tough place for Nick. This is a tough place with two arms and two legs," said White.

"I put him in the Contender Series to see if he could make it to the UFC; he didn't make it."

Dana was completely fair. He gave Nick a chance, and it didn’t work out. We win, and we lose. That’s reality. People are REALLY overestimating Nick. He seems like a great guy, but what happens when he runs into a Top 10 ranked? Realistically, he’s going to get very hurt.
Now, maybe Luke Thomas can get of the guys dick and start being more realistic about his chances.

There’s levels to this game. Nick may have beaten guys in the bush leagues but he doesn’t stand a chance against a ufc fighter.

The only reason he is being pushed by the fans so hard is because he had one arm. If someone else lost that fight nobody will be saying "ohh I feel so bad for him, Dana give him a second chance."

Fair play to Newell but he's not shown to be on that caliber. And if anything happens to him, the UFC's neck is on the line so why would they take that risk?

I mean cmon this guy came to a 4 limb fight with 3 what did you think was gonna happen! Heart is great, but some of his wins had to be from putty. It’s a lose lose who brags about beating the guy with 1 arm smh. Being politically correct is starting to ruin everything. Sorry but looking at that fight, he doesn't belong in the UFC whatsoever. He doesn't have the talent and his arm is too much of a weakness.
