Adam Fisk is President of the Brave New Software Project, a nonprofit dedicated to building software tools that tackle tough global challenges. Funded through a multimillion-dollar State Department grant, he and his team are working on Lantern, a tool that uses peer-to-peer to connect people in censored countries to the open Internet.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

A terrific app now after Lantern was re-implemented in language go. Thank you, the Lantern team.

This is an app that could actually make a difference in the world, open up the internet for everyone and make government censorship a moot point ... I've already installed on my own system, now I need to get a few of my friends and family to install this on their computers ...
