Police and wildlife officials were called to a home in Sierra Madre Wednesday morning after a bear broke into a home and enjoyed some food in the refrigerator. Officers were dispatched to the home in the 100 block of South Hermosa Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. after the homeowners arrived and called 911, the Sierra Madre Police Department said.

“I was walking through my courtyard and I glanced to the left where my side door is and it was wide open,” homeowner Chelsea Mapanda told KTLA.

KTLA's Rachel Menitoff reports on September 13, 2023.

Unless this is a bear strain I have never seen before..a male Black bear does not have a white spot on its chest until it is at least 3 years old... the one shown did...as far as bears getting into things... I have a collection of black bear chewed items.. from gas cans to garbage cans, the cover on the propane bottles on my camping trailer...30w oil bottles...my favorite was the brake fluid.. only one bite on that ... don't take it out on the bear... either get along with them or get along down the road...
