How Do Formula 1 Drivers See In The Rain?

F1 drivers don't have windscreen wipers and are travelling at very high speeds... so how do they race in REALLY wet conditions?

Badly. I've aquaplaned on the motorway at 70mph, a few weeks after passing my test and surrounded by other drivers (which is why I couldn't get into the inside lane and slow down!). It was bloody terrifying! And though I've had a few far smaller moments as a boat driver, nothing will compare to that time. Nearly 40 years on and I still remember every moment!

They were pretty petrified in Spa too, while even in recent times we've raced in much worse conditions than that. As a spectator at the Belgian GP I can also tell you that yes, it was soaking wet out there, but there were very few moments with actual buckets of water pouring from the sky. It was more of a constant drizzle that kept things wet. Spa isn't exactly a cheap, shoddy, puddle-ridden track either. If a drizzle can keep the cars off the track out of fear of bottoming out over what amount of water there actually is on track, then they need to raise the ride height with the setups because it's getting ridiculous.
